Just 1 committe letter and 1 other?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
if you want to send in additional letters, then you need to contact the individual schools - some schools are really strict about having everything go through ADEA as well.

generally from what I heard, a committee letter + 1 letter from dentist is all you need. (since committee consist of lots of professors you might've took)

What other letters are you planning to submit? I heard it's difficult to do so as well and some school don't allow that.

i probably prefer it this way but i just wanted to make sure people dont also send additional letters somehow...im getting a committee letter, so my only dilemma is that shadow in an office of 5 dentists and 1 oral surgeon and im debating mostly between 2 of them and dont know which to ask :/... 1 already offered before i even asked but i was originally leaning towards the other one who i always shadowed more and recently found out that he happens to be well-known in my state achool .., the other dentist who offered already is upenn alumni n thats prob a reach school for me if anything

does anyone ever get letters from like a group of dentists? almost like a committee letter lol

At my school, we are required to submit a minimum of three letters (Minimum 1 from Science professor, and 1 from a dentist) before we can even be considered for a committee letter. The committee then writes their own letter based on their knowledge of us (both personally, and through our grades, EC activities, as well as the letters we already submitted to them). The committee then "attaches" the letters we submitted to them along with the committee letter. In this sense, even though you officially only submitted the committee letter, the dental schools still have access to all of your other LOR's as well. I would assume most schools follow this protocol as well. If you are unsure, talk to your health professions adviser directly and don't just trust what other students have told you as they are often very, very misguided.
