Just another pre-dental student with questions! Please help!

Hey guys, so I'm a pre-dental student at South Carolina who just got done with my first year. My GPA overall was a little above 3.8 and I'm planning to do better next year so I think I'm in a good spot GPA-wise. I've signed up to do job shadowing for two doctors so far (oral surgeon and cosmetic dentist) for total of about 40 hours this summer.
Now I'm trying to do some research on what dental schools I should apply to and I have no idea how to start. I'm naturally aiming for good schools so I could have some safety schools to fall back on later on. However, I'm an international student so the tuition is the major factor for me.
What schools give out the most money to international students? If you're an international student please give me some advice!
Also, a family friend (a dentist) once told me that what dental school you go to is not that important as long as you graduate and earn your degree. Is that true? I mean I guess I still believe in the name values of schools because of my college application process.
I know I'm rambling on but if you could please give me some advice on how to start looking at schools and decide which school's the best for me, please please let me know!!!

Yes to above question.

You are too early in the process to be thinking about which schools to apply to. And as far as which schools "give" you money.... I'll tell you right now, none. Some schools have special scholarship offers for the exceptional applicants (like someone with a 4.0 GPA and like a 25+ DAT), but those are few and far in-between.

Your best bet for an acceptance is south Carolina, but I dunno what their policy is on international applicants. Will you be considered a SC resident?
