Just got nailed with $300 fee for adding 10 programs by accident!

I didn't realize that clicking "certify" with 10 extra positions on my ROL would finalize them and I'd be stuck with a $300 fee even if I subsequently removed the programs later, before the Feb 20 deadline.

Now after reading the fine print again, I realize that it was disclosed in the rules that I cannot undue this charge. I just feel like it was still kind of confusing though. When you buy something online, you can always back out all the way until the point when you submit your credit card information, I just assumed that it would be the same situation here, that I can always back out before the Feb 20th deadline. There was no warning either, no preview of charges, I just clicked the certify button and then BAM! you owe $300!, set in stone.

Has anyone else made this mistake? More importantly, has anyone been successful in getting this charge removed?

I am so broke after interview season. This will be very painful for me. 🙁

Have you tried calling NRMP and pestering them till they drop the charge?

It definitely warns you, sorry you missed it but maybe if you call they will grant mercy!

It does warn you at the bottom, right after you add the 21st program. It says certifying the list will result in additional charge. They should make the prints larger though.
