Michigan state university's osteopathic school of medicine stack up? I'm from michigan and have heard good things, but how does it compare to other schools?
Opinions please...
It's ranked in the US News yearly rankings of medical school.... whatever that would mean to you.... what exactly about it did you want to find out more about?
What's it geared towards? Is it primary care, or more into subspecialities? Is it considered a selective osteopathic med school? Anyone out there apply and/or get accepted to this school, anyone visited there? What's it like?
I think MSUCOM has a very different feeling than the other schools I interviewed at (Des Moines, LECOM, and some M.D. schools) The biggest difference to me is that it is on a big campus- not a school just focused on medical careers. Also the facilities are older and less hi-tech than the D.O. schools I visited. It does have a great reputation, especially if you plan to stay in the state of Michigan. Instate tuition is a BIG bonus.
MSUCOM is also unique because for the first 2 years you will be in the same classes as the allopathic students, msu has a M.D. school too! It has a VERY high reputation among area physicians. The campus here is very relaxing and beautiful too. Plenty of recreation, great clinical facilities. I hope to get accepted there myself.
