Kansas State Interviews
Started by racccjlm
I received mine at 11:10am eastern time if that helps.
Did everyone get their invitations in the morning?
mine came at 9:50 this morning! made my day...interview is 1/23 at 9:30 am. I'm going to fly in friday and out sunday I think, and stay with a friend!
Interview Offered! 12/23 at 9am! Mailed this morning! 😀
Mailed, as in snail mail? And CONGRATS to all! 😀

Sorry emailed! And it's for 1/23 at 9am 🙂
So since the 'non-residents will be notified around December 1st' is this the last wave of invites?
Their CVM calendar has three weekends listed as OOS interviews and the emails posted on this thread from Ms. Ritter confirm that fact. Since we haven't heard anything about the weekend of 1/30 and 1/31, I refuse to give up hope yet.

Right there with ya!

Ah well that's a good point.
'Gotta hold on hope, cause it's the last thing, that's been holdin' me'
Okay, so I was hoping to rent a car for the weekend...
Any ideas where I can do that without paying $50+ dollars a day? (15-20 for the car, and 25-35 for being a young'in)
I'm flying into MCI, and since I'm only 22, the fees are disgustingly high... Any know a place that's cheaper than the rest for us underaged folks?

Check through your car insurance company. I have USAA and they waive the underage fee if you're a member. It's a lovely deal and has made my life so much easier in a number of situations.
😀! Congrats to everyone who received their interview notices! I'll see you there! *so excited* 👍

Wow, just looked at Kansas' stat page:
Of the 248 OOS students interiewed, 174 were offered positions. Those odds aren't bad at all compared to some schools.
I'm starting to gather some info on the school and add it to my spreadsheets--I need to feel prepared and organized!

Seventy Percent. HELL YES! 👍
I know I'm going to sound dumb asking this.... but when they say they've offered 174 or whatever positions, are they saying that's how many they offered initially (but not including those they invite on the waitlist later)? Cause I know some schools over-invite OOS on purpose
Or do they mean that's how many they've offered overall, including those they have offered from the waitlist?

Not sure--I just C+p off the website. It said only 50 or so actually decided to attend KSU, so they may have ended up pulling some off the wait list.
so are they done sending out invitations?
I hope not, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

Ditto.
There's still one weekend (1/16, 1/17) set aside for OOS interviews that we haven't heard about yet. I would guess that there's still another wave of invites to come 🙂
...Never mind. Forget I just posted this! I'm apparently a ditz at heart.
I only have my completed application, but there were no essay questions. Just questions about residency, classes taken and schools attended.

So I'm trying to book my flight for my interview and I would really like to stay for the pizza party, but I can't seem to find any flights out of Kansas past 3:45pm for 1/23. I don't want to spend the money for a second night at a hotel, plus I have to work the next day. I would love to leave on a red eye out of Manhattan, but it just doesn't seem possible. Is anyone else having this problem or have a solution for me?
I too was trying to figure out how to stay only one night and still go to the pizza party, but it doesn't look like that will work with airline schedules. It'll mean I have to make the 10+ hour trip back to my college all in one day and pay for the extra night, but I really do want time to get the feel of the school and spend time with current students. I'll probably end up staying the second night and consider it an investment 😉

I decided to stay the extra night, rather than have a 6 hour flight and then a 1.5 hour drive home from the airport...I wouldn't get home until 3 in the morning, and I don't do well with no sleep!
So, I think I'm leaving Sunday on a 1:30 flight. I'm staying with a friend, so at least I don't have to worry about that. Now, to just find a way to get from the airport to said friend's house...
Thanks, I think I might just use a vacation day and stay for the pizza party.
Does anyone know if it would be better to rent a car or just take a taxi? I just need to go from the airport, to the hotel, from the hotel to K-State, and then all the return trips. It is around $50 to rent a car, but if the taxis are reliable I would prefer to let someone else navigate the icy roads. Also, what is the best taxi company, if that turns out to be a good option?
Did anyone get a confirmation e-mail after they accepted the interview?
You just scared the crap out of me, I saw this pop up and thought that more interview notifications were being sent out today. I feel like I've kind of lost hope though. Oh well, you win some you lose some.
I hear ya....my stomach turns every time I check my email hoping I got one from KSU
I received a confirmation email within an hour I think, but they seem to be pretty spotty with their email responses. Right after I got the confirmation I emailed with another question and have still not heard back (now about a week later).

Aw, sorry guys. Didn't mean to scare you! Don't worry. They are still sending out invites!
Thanks scubblescully!

I called them to confirm my interview. It didn't take long at all, and instant peace of mind is nice.
Has anyone else heard anything recently from Kansas? I'm just wondering because I haven't heard anything yet and am wondering if I should be concerned or if this is normal.... I didn't apply there last year so I'm not sure how they handle things. 😕
Hey,
Does anybody know if Kansas State required you to send it fall grades? I can't find it on their website and was just wondering. Thanks

I was curious about that as well and I emailed them and have yet to hear back.
Congrats everyone on the interviews!!! if you have any questions feel free to ask....although it is final exam week next week so it may be awhile til you get a response. i will be here for the later interviews so if you want to do something one of the nights I'm sure i can arrange some people to get together

This is the email I got back from them when I ask if all email invitations had been sent out.
"We have sent invitations to most of our applicants who will interview in January. If we need to interview additional applicants after this first round, we will send invitations later this spring. You are still on our list as a viable applicant."
So based on that I would say that unless they sent you rejection you are still in the running, kind of like a wait list
Just received confirmation that they do not require fall transcripts.

Well that's a little sad. Although it says most so that makes it a little better. I'm going to e-mail to see if I'm still a viable applicant.
