Many people on this forum have been knocking the blue book, but I think that Kaplan prepares you really well, however, it isn't just a matter of reading the blue book or the white book that they give you in class. I did take the class, but the blue book is nearly identical to the white book and the practice tests ask the same questions. The thing is, to be successful with Kaplan, you need to do all of the practice tests (including the subject tests online if you take the class) and really read the answers---the answers are fairly detailed and contain information that isn't in the outline of the blue or white book. This is what I did and I was really successful with the biology section of the DAT.

Thats the one anyone can buy in bookstores. The one u got was from taking the course their same books just different color covers.

Let me get this straight, the kaplan blue book is EXACTLY the same as those white books kaplan provide for classes? Is that REALLY true?

Yup I have both and don't I feel stupid for buying the blue book before I took the class. There went $60 I’ll never have again

THEY'RE NOT EXACTLY SIMILAR.

The Review notes are exactly the same.

BUT, the white book has questions at the end of each chapter (with answers). THESE I THINK ARE HELPFUL. cuz a lot of times, these answers contain info. not in notes.

Yes you are right but I was referring only to the content within each section. I thought the questions after each section were incredibly easy and in no way helpful for the real thing.

I own the Kaplan bb, but I've been trying to get my hands on the stuff the class provides for quite a while now. I'm not taking the class (btw, what do you guys suggest, should I take the class), but from the above postings, I don't think I will bother any more.

If you can motivate yourself to study then I don’t think you need the class. I feel the class only gets those slackers among us (me included) reading and studying for the test.

Your stats are awesome! I can't get over it! 4.0/4.0 - what an acheivement! 20's on your DAT - absolutely fantastic! GREAT JOB cowsgomoo, that is just superb! Sorry, I can't get over it! It almost seems too good to be true (not that I don't believe you - I do, it's just that your probably in the top 5% of applicants with those kinds of stats). And to be conversing with you is great!

I guess this is a good time for me to say this too. SDN is a wonderful place, because we have students, all wanting a limited amount of spots for dental school, and at the same time all competing with each other. One would think a place like SDN wouldn't even exist, but I think this site is a testement to how we help others out, even when we are all applying for a limited amount of spots. Great Stuff!

This is a great site I owe my DAT score to it as I am pretty sure that I would not have done as well I have without it.

I am up to chapter 7 on that blue book so far ,

and I really dont like the book much. I already picked up on 1 or 2 errors .. or sentence grammer issues . I think the book could go into just a BIT more in detail but thats just me. I just thank myself that I didnt go to sleep in bio classes b/c things start to trigger back while reading the kaplan book. LOL .
