Hi all,

After checking my answer to question 23 in the Kaplan OAT 2016 book's "Reading Comprehension" section, I found that the correct answer to the question was "D". However, in the passage associated with this question, I do not find any place where the author talks about "liberalized attitudes toward unwed motherhood".

This invalidates the reasoning given by Kaplan for choice "D" being the correct answer to this question.

Has anyone completed this question and had similar thoughts as me regarding the validity of choice "D" being the correct answer to this question?

Any input would be much appreciated.

Hey! I think you misread the question if I'm looking at the right thing:
Which of the following would most demographers probably NOT consider a factor in decreasing fertility rates?
So answer D makes sense, because the passage doesn't talk about liberalized attitudes toward unwed motherhood!

Agree with teh0012, I find that a lot of times what is actually said in a passage and what I read can be so different, so sometimes I really just try to slow down and read super slowly when I'm doing reading comprehension practice. They try to catch you with those small pieces of logic and stuff to send you in the wrong direction
