Hi guys.. I wanted to take the Kaplan course but there are no locations around me, so I was wondering if anyone knew how helpful the kaplan online course was?? I don't know if I should just get some books to study or do the online class. Any suggestions?! Thanks!

I took the Kaplan online course and I think it helped a lot.....BUT it is really expensive (too expensive in my opinion for what you get). That being said, I don't think I would have scored as well if I hadn't taken the course. It is something you really have to dedicate yourself to though because there won't be any accountability like there is in the classroom setting where you feel pressured to do your homework. Another benefit of the online class is that you can do it in whatever order you want, which is one of the main reasons why I took the online class. I would say if money isn't an issue or not much of one, I would take it. If your money is pretty tight, you may want to consider other study methods. Good luck deciding what to do!🙂

the classroom course sucked. the online stuff was great. A little pricey, but for all the workshops, subject tests, and 6 practice tests, i would pay for it again if i had too.

The key thing is that you have to do all of it to get the full benefit of it. Dont do some and then moan about how badly you did on the real DAT. THe subject tests are harder than the real DAT but they reinforce concepts well. The only thing you will need to supplement is the bio section. Other than that it is a great resource.

I was scoring in the 20's my first time through topscore after doing all the kaplan stuff.

i have the classroom cd rom from kaplan dat - it won't open for me - give me some advice. thanks!

bigcat,

Just call Kaplan. I believe their number is 1-800-KAP-TEST, but you can check for sure on their website. Be prepared to wait though. I called them once and I was on hold for what seems like forever. I eventually gave up and called the local Kaplan office near my house and they were much more helpful, so maybe you could try that. BTW, I believe I read another post by you on a different thread that said that you had XP. I have XP as well, and Kaplan stuff always worked fine on my computer. Good luck!

Kaplan online course was definitely helpful for me because I could go at my own pace. I finished the whole course in just two weeks and then took the test. Although it was a bit pricey, the result was pretty good. On the diagnostics test, I scored 19 AA and 20 PAT. Near the end of my two weeks, I scored 21 AA and 25 PAT. On the actual test, I scored 23 AA and 21 PAT. On the actual test, I think it's safe to predict that you'll receive 1-2 points higher in the academic section and 2-3 points lower in the perceptual ability section.
