Kaplan Pahology - 2006 (Barone) or 2010 (Sanchez et al.)

Hey all, am confused as to use which resource kaplan 2006 lectures by John Barone which I've seen 3 years earlier and really liked or the new 2010 lectures by Sanchez and others. Also if I'm using the 2006 lectures, can I use it with the 2010 book, or do I need to get a copy of the 2006 version.

p.s. I've heard from a few people that the 2006 lectures by Barone was better & I also really liked it. But the updated version could have info on the latest patterns, hence my confusion.

I'm told that the older kaplan was better , but if i were you i would use pathoma or Goljan ... pathoma would have my vote .

I'm certainly doing Goljan ...
Since I'm also enrolled for the Kaplan CentrePrep,& have the choice of either Path 2006 & Path 2010, which I intend to use to supplement Goljan, I asked which is better ...😕

I agree with going with pathoma. It sucks that you paid money for the Kaplan course, but Pathoma is worth the extra $100. I tried going through the 2010 Kaplan pathology videos and once my friend told me about Pathoma, I switched over and never looked back. I would not waste my time w/ those Kaplan pathology videos

But since I'll be watching the Kaplan lectures & hearing out Dr.Goljan, won't doing Pathoma too be overkill. Also I need to start Patho in 2 days time & am in India, so it'll take a couple of weeks for Pathoma to be delivered to me. Also I have a slow Internet connection (its fast only for 5 days then reverts to a much slower speed). Given these problems, I think Pathoma is not possible at least for now.

So, my question remains Kaplan 2006/2010/ Will I be requiring the 2010 Lecture Notes go well with the 2006 videos, if it is the better option ........

Please give me some advice ........

Overkill? I'm saying to do Pathoma rather than Kaplan for pathology. Pathoma is on another league, and does it in less time than Kaplan. I have no basis to judge the 2006 version but from what I watched for Sanchez + that other guy, I would rather go w/ an unknown 2006

My advice.... first contact Pathoma and find out how long it will take to receive the book. If it's only a week or so, just move onto a new topic and forget about kaplan path, it's pretty useless. Barone is good, but the book isn't that great.

Or what you can do is sign up to Pathoma, and just watch the lecture videos and have first aid open along with the videos and once the book gets to India start using the book too.

If none of these options appeal to you, just skip the kaplan and go straight to Goljan. After Goljan if you have weak areas then you can decide to order Pathoma.

Ordering Pathoma today, will wait for it. In the meantime will watch Pharm lectures which I have'nt completed. 🙂

If u have any speed issues, report it quickly to the pathoma guys and they will switch the server you are on to their "S2" server.... this server/streaming process seems to be lot smoother and faster for many (myself included). They are pretty cool about it, just report it quickly if u suffer speed issues.

Hey guys, finally ordered Pathoma ... videos have been activated .... book might take a week to reach India ......... anyways I'm going ahead & watching the 2006 Kaplan lectures for now ......
I must say, I saw the first lecture & do believe that this guy, Dr.Sattar actually does make a difference to your Path prep .......
Thanks to all of you for your advice ......... guess I'll get back to sdn to clear my head on the USMLE PREP issues ......
