How similar are the Step 2 Qbank questions to the actual test? Many of the Qbank questions seem very picky to me, and my scores are not high. Thoughts?
Thanks!

The format of the Kaplan questions id dead on, and so is the material they cover. They are however too picky, and often easier than the actual USMLE questions in that they give "too many" hints in the vignette and the answer becomes too clear w/out much critical thinking

could you please explain how the questions are too picky yet easier than the real test questions at the same time...... Also, does anyone know if the Qbook questions are the same as the Qbank? Thanks

Snaggletooth,

The questions are easier than the real test per se predominantly because the Kaplan questions provide a lot more information, much less distracters, and many more "keywords" or signs. They make getting the diagnosis somewhat straightforward where as on the exam itself you have to do much more critical thinking.

The Kaplan questions are picky however. It was the same format on Step 1 Q-bank as well in that many of their questions are more technical. For example Kaplan Q-bank on several questions asks for a specific vent settings on an ICU pt, or calculate the fluid vol in a burned pt w/specific areas of body burned... Step 2 (at least in my experience) didn't have this, rather focused on more critical thinking questions rather than technical ones!

Best of luck

What about NMS for Step 2 (the book) compared with Kaplan Q-Bank for Step 2?

Which is more reflective of the real deal? And, if you only had one, which one would you do?
