I found out yesterday evening that I got accepted to be a Kaplan instructor for the MCAT (and SAT). I'm so excited!! I've wanted to be a Kaplan teacher for so long! I've taken so many Kaplan courses, for PSAT, SAT, and MCAT... it will be so cool to have them pay ME now!

So I guess I can't give out advice on what materials to use anymore... since I'll be biased.

I did some really really simple origami thing... basically folding a piece of paper into a nifty little envolope. You only get 5-7 minutes, I didn't dare try anything remotely complicated. I was really surprised I got the job... the other auditioners were way more dinamic and funny.

If it's not too nosey, how much does a Kaplan MCAT job pay?

That is probably where I'll be teaching too. I'm more in the Cleveland area, but Akron is not too much of a stretch, especially since they pay 32 cents a mile for anything over 15 miles from your home. It's funny, but a 1st year med student who auditioned with me today did the origami envelope thing. My gig was "basic techniques of the game of pool". What sections will you be teaching? I guess I'll be training for verbal and\or bio.

i just got a position yesterday too.
on my audition - i did the history of kimbop and how to make it. it's a korean delicacy!

anyways- the pays is $15/hr your first class plus $7/hr for the prep time it takes before each class- but they tell you how long prep time should be.

after your 1st class it's $18/hr.

i forgot to ask about the private tutoring- but i wonder if you get more???

also any princeton review teachers?? what did you guys make?? i haven't decided yet to take the position or not- but i have a week and maybe there's something that pays 20.

Octupus: Well, since the MCAT will be over by sept. when I start, I plan in teaching SAT until Dec. or Jan... or whenever the MCAT classes start. For the MCAT I'll most likely be teaching verbal and PS... I don't think they'd let me go near the Bio classes :)
