How many pre-dent students do you think take the Kaplan review class. It seems to me that it is what everyone does, and people take the class just to get the national average.....how much did it really help you guys...because kaplan wouldnt give me a tangible answer....is kaplan much easier than the real dat. Is it a wise idea just to do as many practice tests as possible before i take the test?

The Kaplan program is good for motivation to study, because you need to come prepared to each of the classes where they will review the material. If you are able to motivate yourself, then you would do fine just getting the Kaplan book and studying on your own. The Kaplan book is great for the Academic Part of the DAT, Barrons is better for the PAT. I would get a variety of books. Finally to your question about taking practice tests, yes you should take plenty of practice tests because that way you can assess how you are doing and that's the only way to improve in the PAT section. Hope it helps

I'm with you mepstein. I was going to actually start a thread like this today. I was wondering in addition, if the Kaplan book (3rd Ed.) you buy online is the same book that they use in class? If so, what would really be the benefit of paying over $1000 for the course. It would come out of my pocket, so for that much money, I can motivate myself.

no, it is not the same book. The kaplan book you get with the classes is a little bit more detailed. It's a lot bigger, I can tell you that. It has questions after every chapter in biology, chemistry, OC, etc. (which by the way, is divided exactly the way its divided in the book you get from the bookstore).

Is it really that big of a difference? not really, I just got it because I started freaking out, and studying every single thing I could actually afford and so on. It wasn't worth it, but I studied from it, and not from the bookstore kaplan book, just because I can take notes and write them in the book itself, etc. It comes with flashcards though, like in the class and stuff, and I would definately reccomend those if you get your hands on them. They're bio and OC flashcards.

How do you get that kaplan class book, and those flashcards and all the little things that come with the class? you have to actually be enrolled in the class. I was just enrolled in ebay, which worked out fine😉

best of luck!
