KCOM - "on hold" the same as waitlisted?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Did they already verify your application is complete? If it is and you interviewed then you are waitlisted. If you haven't gotten that far call and ask if they are missing info from you.

Bad sign to be waitlisted? It does mean they wanted others to attend more than you, for whatever reason. But it also means they are interested in you or they would have just said no. So don't be discouraged! You still have a chance. Remember, if they waitlisted you there are some who were accepted who are going to choose another school and open a spot at KCOM.

I don't think it is too bad of a sign or anything. I would call and check with admissions to make sure that they have everything in your file. I was put on hold at West Virginia in October, but then I got an interview for December. The deadline for a lot of people to accept their seats and put their deposits down is rapidly coming; therefore, they may just be delaying anymore interview (and put people on hold) to see how many spots they have left after the initial bunch of people have interviewed. I wouldn't worry too much about it (I had worried about it at first, but quickly found out that I shouldn't have worried at all). Good luck :luck:

Good sign.. better than regection.

Waitlist will move... rejection are non changeable. Be patient and provide them with as much information as you can give them to push your application.

Yes, I called admissions already (this is how I found out my app. was on hold). But no, I haven't interviewed yet. My application is complete, at least I'm assuming so because my status on their website doesn't show I'm missing anything. Maybe I'll call again just to make sure they're not missing anything. Thanks everyone.

What other info can I give to whoever it is I'm speaking with on the phone to help push my application, like you're saying?

You did not specify in your original post that you did not have your interview yet. Usually on waiting list is for after interview.

You can provide any additional info that will support your application. Updated grades that improve your gpa.. or one more letter or reference.

It's different from waitlisting. KCOM doesn't have what they call a waitlist. They have an "alternate list" which if you get put on that it means they accept you if nothing better comes along. It all sounds about the same to me. Anyway, on hold means they want you to know they are still considering you so you dont give up on them. They must be backed up for now. I'm on hold at COMP until the end of January when they will again review my file.

In that case, anyone else "on hold" with KCOM? I'm really nervous about it, as you can see, because I really want to get in there.

You are not alone. I am also "on hold" for an interview at KCOM and also eager to hear from them. I do suspect that what a previous poster said is true--that the admissions dept is backed up and waiting to see how many deposits for early acceptances come in. I'll keep the faith with you! 👍 Happy Holidays!
