Hey ya'll. I'm in a pickle. I'm accepted to KCOM, LECOMB, and still have an interview at PNWU. I'm thinking I should at least give PNWU a chance. Any advice?

PNWU was my last interview after receiving several acceptances elsewhere (including KCOM).

I made a pros/cons list that included things such as location, curriculum, and many others. Certainly, my list would likely differ from yours, notably with respect to how you assign priority.

I chose PNWU, though if KCOM had been nearly anywhere but Kirksville, I might have opted to attend their program instead.

I would have chosen KCOM over PNWU over LECOM. (Although I have never been to any of them, so I could change my mind when I apply and interview.)

My reasons are that KCOM is the most established and has rotations available in my wife's home town.

I am and Idaho undergrad and probably could be considered a resident by now, PNWU appeals simply because I am in their target demographic, and because I could come back to Idaho for clinicals.

LECOM? It's cheap, and it's a med school.

I'm from Idaho. I declined my interview to KCOM (location/tuition reasons), went to my PNWU interview and it just didn't feel right to me even though I was accepted (plus tuition yeowch), and went to my LECOM-B interview and fell in love with the program (PBL) and the area.

Trust me, you're shooting in the dark. One year ago I would have swore PNWU was where I was meant to be.

I didn't visit PNWU or LECOM, but I did interview/accept at KCOM. I really loved their dedication to family practice and the genuine, Midwestern friendliness of EVERYONE who I met there. Is Kirksville a jewel to behold? Maybe not for some. I really like the idea of small towns and with a 5,000 student undergrad university, there will be enough things to do... also Columbia, MO is an hour and a half away (home of Mizzou) and Kansas City is 2 and 1/2 so if I really need to "get out" for a while, it won't be so bad. Plus, at the end of the day, it's two years in Kirksville. After that you can go anywhere from AZ to NJ or MI. The schools reputation and status as the oldest osteopathic medical college also make me feel at ease that I will be getting a world class education.
Like I said, I didn't visit the other two, but I certainly think that KCOM is a phenominal place. Best of luck with your decision!

You make a great point. I don't think people- myself included-take that into consideration as much. I mean, I like ATSU-SOMA because it's around the corner from my wife's parents and siblings, and I think that would be a great support for her while I am in school. Then again, we would only be there for a year. I could go to KCOM and spend the last two years in Mesa. Good food for thought.

I got my acceptance to KCOM yesterday. However, I'm literally sitting in the hotel room for my interview with LECOM tomorrow. I'm not really sure why I'm even going through with it entirely. KCOM is awesome and LECOM, when I visited this summer seemed rather 'uptight'.
