Hello!

I was just wondering if people who have already made a decision for either school as well as those who know about the two schools could give me some advice. What would be the reasons to go to KCOM vs Touro or viceversa? I am not sure where each school stands in terms of better education and opportunities. Thanks!!!

I would say KCOM is a better school. It is the 1st osteopathic school (founded just before the 1900s), so it has a really good reputation in the country.

TUCOM is very young (founded in 1996) and so it is not as established. If you are from northern CA, I would consider going to TUCOM. If you're from any other part of the country, go to KCOM.

I was just wondering, since LECOM is also a newer school like TUCOM, is it the same kind of comparison?

I know of many students that interviewed and were accepted to Kirksville but declined the acceptance to attend either TUCOM Mare Island or TUCOM Las Vegas. however, i am sure there are those who have done just the opposite and chose a Kirksville acceptance over a TUCOM acceptance. from what i know and have heard, both schools are good and it is mainly a matter of where you feel comfortable. just because a school or organization has been around for a long time does not necessarily make it better, but it does give you more of a history to look at when making your decision of where to attend. basically, choose where you feel most comfortable if it your choice comes down to two pretty equally competitive schools because you dont want to miserable throughout the 4 years you spend at that school.

I turned down my KCOM interview after getting accepted to TUCOM. That does not mean TUCOM is better, it's just better for my needs. It realllllly depends on you. For me, I did not want to live in a rural area for 2-3 years, I wanted to be close to CA and TUCOM's facility/administration just seemed "right" for me. You have to find what is important for you and base you decision on that. Any school can get you to your ultimate goal... it's just where you want to be on the way there. They will both provide you with a great education and opportunities.
