KCUMB Class of 2008

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
We are now required to have the textbooks for OPP lab. If we do not bring them to lab we will be sent home with an unexused absence. I think the second years were told the same thing.

😛

Oh yeah. They tried to do that to us last year. I ended up with severe somatic dysfunction of my trapezius muscle carrying the foundations book across the street.

See, they dropped the ball with paper usage with the genesis curriculum. So they are probably trying to conserve paper by not printing handouts (as they used to).

You CT people ought to get together and get one book and make copies on the 5th floor of the procedures you'll need for OPP that week.

That blows, guys!

anyone know what they are building across the street from kcumb?? so far just columns, but the columns look like the same ones used on campus... any ideas???

Parking lot. They are going to be putting a new building on the lot by Smith.

According to the 2nd years our class studies ALOT. Which I guess I should be doing. Oh well bottom of the bell curve for me.

If you mean that circle/sphere thing, then yeah, that's it. Colors seem to be orange and either silver or purple- haven't quite got that one straight yet.

Does anyone know the GPA one needs to keep up once they have been accepted to kcumb? I might get 2 C's this semester depending on how the finals turn out 🙁

I think it's a 2.0. Not sure though.

There are several new buildings and things planned in the future on-campus. One is a new rec center/auditorium/library across the street from Smith Hall between/in the parking lots there. That way the White Coating Ceremony is held on-campus and not downtown. We'll get a rec center for weight/ B-ball/V-ball, etc. Then the other section is going to be the new library. This is all very early in the works and I think they are still working on the design, but that's it in a nutshell. Also, across the street where the new parking lots are going in I believe there is going to be a multi-level parking garage.

hey im moving into CT in mid july.

Hi c/o 2008ers. I'm starting this fall and was wondering what most of you are doing between the 1st year and 2nd year summer? I looked on the schedule and am assuming that there are no school responsibilities, so what does one do?

what is the typical class hourly schedule like? do you do class in the morning and then have all afternoon to study or whatever?? are there ever a mix, or ever classes in the afternoon??? id like to try to get into a routine on how i study and exercise and class and all, any help?? please?? details details are great!

thanks!

man, i was up at ct yesterday. its so quiet. no one around. is it just because of the summer or how is it normally??

As far as classes go. During 1st year you mostly have classes from 8-12 and either anatomy, path, or micro lab in the afternoon depending on what lab group you will be assigned to. In FOM you will typically have the afternoons off, but once you start Musculoskeletal you will have something to do on most days in the afternoon. CT is pretty much quite like that all the time. I studied in my apartment 80% of first year. As far as working out, I would typically workout after lab in the afternoon if we had lab or between 5-7pm. Hope this helps!

what is FOM? foundations of medicine? how many weeks does that last?

hmm ok, then starting out we will or wont have afternoons off? sorry to be a pain. i like to plan stuff out real well. the school wouldnt have a detailed scheudle would they? ive only seen a broad overview as of late...

also, do u have those labs all in the same week, or does it break off into just micro this week, and just anatomy after this section, or??

Some weeks you'll have micro, anatomy, path, and some other random lab or activity. It wasn't all that rare for us to only get one afternoon off a week late in the year.

Yo, neuro get y'all studying too much?

hey ppl, what is the story on grades after the section before break? do we get to find out before we start the next section or do we have to sweat it out for those several weeks???

Things are different this year since grades are now online. Last year I believe they were posted in Smith Hall at some point before school started back up. I would imagine they would be ready before Christmas (or for those of you that hate jesus, X-mas -Steven Colbert)
