Is 960 a month (CityView) for rent pretty high and/or makes it difficult to budget out through disbursement? Looking to move in with just me and my SO at the moment.

If you move away from campus a little it gets lower. I remember a 2 bd for $850 - $50 /month student discount. But then you will have to spend more on gas and stuff.

I'll try and remember the name of the complex and txt it to you.

If utilities and parking are included then that's about right for everywhere I looked at in or near the city. If you move farther out you can find places cheaper, but like Chizld said, that involves a commute. A lot of the places in/near the city are also not nearly as nice as the Cityview unit I saw was. There were some places charging 850/mo or more for apartments that were under 800 square feet and looked like a party animal had just moved out. Honestly I haven't heard of any apartment complexes in or near the city that are what I'd consider a great deal, but there are plenty of reasonable places.

It's a co-op where you put a 'down-payment' on a townhouse and then pay a 'carrying-charge' (rent) monthly. The downpayment is around 6,000, but you get most of it back when you move out and sell the unit to the next person moving in. It's basically just a huge security deposit. Rent is only about 450/month though, so if you live there 2 years it basically averages out to about 600/month. I was going to move there next year but unfortunately our dog is too big 🙁

There's a lot of places in the north KC area/Gladstone area that are pretty reasonable. You should be able to find a 2br for under 800 up there, and it is only like a 15-20 min drive

Goddamn it I made so many careless mistakes I don't normally make. What the hell is wrong with me? I got at least 3 wrong right off the bat. I seriously think I'm going to fail this section.

Calm down, take a deep breath, and realize there are still a ton of points left. The second test will be around 80 points, and the final will probably be at least 120. Altogether there will probably be around 400 points total. I also HIGHLY doubt that there won't be a curve. A lot of people are behind on lecture stuff because they focused on the practical so much. I had around a 70 on the first test after the curve, and f I hit a 90% on everything else I'd still be able to pull a B before the curve. Hit high 70s/low 80s from here on out and you should be fine, even if you got around a 50% on the first test.

During the test it was harder than I thought it would be.....but somehow I ended up getting one of the best grades I ever have gotten here....so I am not sure what to think haha

There wasn't that much pre-midterm stuff. I would say 84% is a good guess.

I hope it's too high. Now that the practical grades are up there's no curve, and I could definitely use one, haha. I also shouldn't have bothered studying for that practical. I literally got the same grade that I've hit for every single practical this year except one.

Almost everyone I talked to said they either thought this one was easier or they thought it was harder but did better anyway. Plus I'm 90% sure 2 of the questions will get thrown out, which sucks since I'm pretty sure I got them both right anyway. Still, I hope I'm wrong.

That prediction was pretty close! Also liking all the emails about non cumulative stuff, although I am sure everyone will do some kind of reading on the past stuff when it comes to anatomy given the last exam experience

I just talked with @chizledfrmstone about it. Seems like it's worth it especially if you've been out of academics for a while. Helps let you know where you are at and gives you a heads up on the material.

If you have a strong background in biochemistry then I wouldn't bother. If you do not have a strong background in biochemistry, then I don't know...sure. I'd personally utilize every day of your summer earning money, or drinking beer, or laying in the sun. The biochemistry course here isn't particularly rigorous but, again, if you don't have a strong background then sure, go for it.

I don't think the purpose of SLEP is to teach you biochem. It's just 4 days of simulating what medical school will be like in the beginning. It helps gauge the pace at which information will be thrown at you. Plus it's a good way to meet Stan and Ray.

Things start ramping up around MSK.

I would recommend it to anyone who has been out of school for a while. It helps with time management and organization skills. It's only 8am-3pm and the exam at the end doesn't count. Still plenty of time afterwards to do other things.

If you're going there to learn biochem then I wouldn't bother. My undergrad biochem was a bit more demanding.

Yea I had several tough biochem classes but I have been out of school for about 2.5 years now. Honestly I don't really remember how to even study terribly well. But i dont know if it will just come back after the first few days anyways. It seems appealing (though I didn't get the invite anyways), but there is a small part of me that would regret giving up ANY time in the summer, at least based on how hard yall are working now haha
