Hey guys I know there are a few other on here comparing AZCOM and KCUMB but I wanted more personalized opinions, haha.

So Im a Canadian student and have to choose between AZCOM and KCUMB. Here are my thoughts:

AZCOM: I loved the campus. I liked how everything is on campus, including the student dorms. I loved how it was a big campus, I dont like small classes/campuses. I liked that there were pharmacy and dentistry and optometry students all together. Definably felt more comfortable here. But the the weather was a big no no for me. ( I rather like the snow and cold). the tuition is also higher, although that is not my main concern, as I will not be taking out a loan. Nothing was mentioned about research opportunities, which is something Im fairly interested in.

KCUMB: I liked their emphysis on community service and volunteer opportunities. I did not like the tiny campus and how there were only D.O students (and 2 masters program) but mostly only D.O students. That make me really uncomfortable for some reason, I go to a huge university and thats what im comfortable with and I dont think I would be very happy in the KCUMB environment. But definitely loved the weather ( I know that is really odd but thats just what I want, lol). And the tuition being cheaper definitely dosnt hurt. I also liked how they stressed Research and the research opportunities available seem pretty amazing.

I know both schools have pretty good rotation cites, ( Im currently placed in Chicago if I choose AZCOM) but since Im Canadian Im not too familiar with the rotation cites and what is better and what not.

Are there any cites ( from either school) that are particularly more known? I think that would be better for me when trying to get back to Canada.

Which school is better in terms of international opportunities?

Im soo confused?? Help!

It sounds like you're leaning towards AZCOM. I don't know the answer to your last two questions but I think it's going to have to come down to whats more important to you: where you feel more comfortable or weather. Both programs are incredible, though.

Do you have a preference in curriculum? KCUMB has their genesis curriculum where as AZCOM is more traditional.

Good luck!

Some of the things you mentioned were factors into why I chose AZCOM. I went to the largest public university in my state... I thought it was a huge plus to have multiple programs on campus (in case I wanna make friends who aren't necessarily in all of my classes).

As far as research opportunities, I seem to recall Dr. Speicher mentioning quite a bit about the research opportunities available, but I could be wrong about that... pretty much everything prior to my interview was a blur.

I also chose Chicago for rotations, so you should consider that a plus in the AZCOM column :naughty:

I interviewed at both schools. There is nothing that AZCOM offers that justifies their ridiculously over-priced tuition. Also, KCUMB's genesis curriculum would make it fairly easy for me to pick KCUMB over AZCOM as I am not a fan of traditional curriculum. I stayed with student host for my KCUMB interview and my host explained in detail how their curriculum works, which made it pretty clear to me why they have had such high pass rates over the years. My only negative points about KCUMB are the mandatory attendance and possible safety issues about the area the school is located in.
