Polo vet: Don't expect the letters by Dec 20/21 from A&M. I spoke with admissions and they said that they will be mailing them on either the 20/21. Hopefully though, we should receive them by Christmas, or right after since I'm sure the post office is going to be BUSY! 😍

But good luck with Miss State!

Purdue must be working early this year...got my rejection today, and it really stings. Doesn't give me much hope for the OOS schools.

MickeysPet: I'm sorry! 🙁 Keep your head up though... where else did you apply?

Thanks...I have an interview with Ross 1/15, I've applied to Michigan, Minnesota and Louisiana as well. I chose Minnesota and Lousiana since they only look at last 45 credit hours (bad gpa from 1st B.A.+ good gpa from 2nd B.S = mediocre gpa). I thought that being in-state with a 570V, 670Q GRE and 3 years working as a vet tech (as well as research hours done at Purdue) I might stand a chance.

Mississippi: email today saying that right after christmas they will notify me of my status in regards to an interview.

Purdue: A letter arrived saying that I have made it through the first rounds of the application cycle and my application will continue on. They will notify me of my interview status in mid to late January (I am an instate student for Purdue).

Ok, I just got an email from UC Davis saying my application is complete. But since I'd completely forgotten that some people were reporting they've received the "application complete" email, I freaked. For the first split second I thought it might be an interview invite. Then I realized it was way too early. Then I panicked and thought, "Oh no, it's a rejection!" It was neither (which right now is ok with me).

Apparently it's dangerous checking your email when you're only half awake and your brain isn't processing properly... :scared:

I just got the same Davis email... and my god did I jump when I looked at the subject line. No hints, just "UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine" which really gives you no idea of what to expect!

E-mail for OK state -- I need to take animal nutrition, which isn't offered at my school so I'd have to take in online. For the low low price of $800. Sigh.

I figure I'll take it after I find out if they accept me.

Anyone know when Oklahoma sends out reject/accpet letters?

Penn- I got one of those letters that I was booted from the first round, too. I was totally bummed, especially since my best friend's husband goes to the med school there; it would have been nice to be near them.

U of Illinois- also got a rejection letter, the day after I got the one from Penn. Ouch.

Iowa State- got an e-mail saying that my app is complete.

Auburn- e-mail saying my app is complete.

Tufts- the tracker thing says my app is complete.

Ross- haven't heard anything yet.

So, life isn't all too exciting for me on the application front. I'm pretty worried that I haven't heard about any interviews, since it seems like so many people have.

For all of you Colorado natives, CSU will notify us if we get an interview in mid January and interviews will be held February 6-8th!🙂

Does this mean that OOSers will hear back on our rejections/acceptances (late Jan) before you guys have had your interviews?

I'm not sure how that will work... You guys are supposed to hear late Jan-early Feb right? My guess is that it will be more towards early Feb since in-state interviews are Feb 6-8. 😕

From CSU's website:

Mid-January to Mid-February, 2008. Approximate dates for offers, invitations to interview, and denial of admission.
February 6-8, 2008. Approximate dates for interviews (select group of Colorado applicants only).

I also sent them an email letting them know I would be at my permanent address for a month and was told they won't send anything out until after 1/14. Also - does anyone have a phone number for their admissions? I think the only reason I sent them an email was because I couldn't find a number, but I could have my schools confused.

I just got a wonderfully arrhythmia-inducing e-mail from Tufts with an extremely ambiguous subject line, telling me that if I am indeed one of the 240 invited to interview out of the 750 applicants, I'll be getting a letter in the mail.

Is it me, or does this seem rather unnecessary? I read through the beginning, trying to figure out the tone of the message, because first they started with "Congratulations!" and then there was an "unfortunately," but I finally realized that there was actually nothing of substance in that e-mail. It freaked me out pretty well.

i wonder if they've been getting a lot of phone calls and emails about this and decided to just mass-notify all applicants as to what to expect when. from what i recall last year (and from my experience here as a student), tufts is notoriously clear in their communication. if something big and important happens with your application, you won't miss it!

good luck, everyone!

Hmmm...the question I have is did you get the same email I got? Because the one I got had neither words, 'Congratulations' or 'unfortunately', in it.

Man, now I want to see these emails!

Anyway, my update is that there is still no news... I'm glad people have started to get accepted by OSU, but I just wish they would look at my application - it's late December!

WOW...my brain is super fried. I just looked at the e-mail again, and I guess my mind was filling in the blanks, because it did not, in fact, say "congratulations" or "unfortunately." What they did say was "Season's Greetings!" (a good, happy thing) and then they gave the number of applicants, interviews, and open seats (generally a bad thing they tell you so you don't feel TOO bad about being rejected).

I really need some sleep once finals are over. This e-mail is NOT what I needed the day before three finals.

THREE finals in ONE day?! My undergrad is pretty good about letting us move a final if we have three or more within 24 hours. That being said, they don't care if you have an 8am and a 7:30pm (worst time slot ever!!) on Thursday and an 8am on Friday.

Tufts ppl: Check your SPAM mail for the Tufts update, I just checked mine and found the email they sent out today

Hey ya'll, I found this forum while looking for something else but decided to check it out and found this thread.

Those others amongst us that are TAMU hopefuls, just thought I'd let ya'll know that letters are going out. I got home yesterday and found a letter from the College of Veterinary Medicine sitting in my chair and my parents shortly there after standing over me...

Opened it up and there was a little map, first thing I saw. My heart swelled at that point and nearly burst when I read the first line 'The Selections Committee of the College of Veterinary Medicine invites you to interview for a position in the fall class of 2008.'

Whoop!! Not an acceptance by any means but the next step on the journey so I'll take it.

Hope ya'll have as much fortune as I. But......maybe a little less come interviews. 😀

The unofficial policy is that if we have 3 in a 24-hour period, we can move one, but that's really up to the professors. And lately, the director of undergraduate studies of biology is really cracking down and not giving anyone any leeway AT ALL--my ecology professor got reprimanded because she gave a make-up midterm! I don't know why he's being so harsh...it really should be up to the professors to decide. Most of them are willing to work with you, especially if it's a smaller class.

At least it'll be over at 6:30 tomorrow evening.

Awww... that sucks, but you'll be done within 24 hours! Good luck!

Just got my GRE Bio score in! Woohoo! I'm way above average for OK state! Almost makes the 6 week wait for scores worth it..... website said 3 weeks for scores.... I was getting concerned.

Email from Cornell today - should get emails in January concerning our status. No information regarding DVM/PhD.

I was all worried when I didn't get one, thinking that maybe they only sent those to people who were definitely accepted (which I now realize is probably not true), since they call people with acceptances in January. Then I realized I should wait a bit before freaking out, and lo and behold, there it is in my inbox!

I love freaking out over nothing. Keeps me on my toes

Haha! I'm right there with you! If I remind all of you again that Ohio still hasn't called me will you all join forces to track me down and make sure I never speak about it again?

Now I'm freaking out! I never got that email! tell me it's nothing. i'm being ridiculous. I hate this process!

arrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

update:
I did in fact get the email. all that concern over NOTHING. You'd think I've have learned by now 🙂

Just received the latest in anxiety-inducing emails form Western...Saw the email, got really really excited, and then, realized it was a mere Christmas card! (well, a nice card nontheless, but you just shouldn't do that to a person these days!!!) 😱

😱 Really? They sent a "Christmas" card??? It wasn't a "Holiday" card???

That is very unlike Western.

Hi everyone. Congrats to everyone that has received an invitation to an interview or better yet an acceptance.

For all of us that are still waiting, may I suggest that we all take a few days off from waiting and worrying. I doubt any of the adcoms will be saying much of anything until after X-mas so why don't we all take a break and clear our heads! Anyway, just an idea. Happy Holidays to everyone!

Oops, it was a "Season's Greetings" card. But several in the crowd were wearing Santa hats and they were posing in front of Poinsettias, so to me that screams...Christmas!!

I got one of those, too! I had to skim it a couple of times before I got the gist that they weren't actually telling me anything. Pretty nerve-racking.

Just checked online, and just two weeks after my interview, found out I got deferred (OOS, interviewed 12/12)...Oh well, there's still hope at least!

hey! sorry this is so late, but i just wanted to give you a heads up: a friend of mine is a Mass resident and got rejected from Tufts, but accepted OOS at Penn.

there's always 'hope' 😉

Don't worry about that. The majority of people are initially deferred until they do more interviews and can make more comparisons. Good luck!

Just wondering... how was she accepted OOS at UPenn? I thought Penn hasn't even started their interviews yet? Was she VMD/PhD? Or maybe this was from last year?

Thanks 🙂

he's in my class... we were accepted just last year. nope, the first Penn interview is Jan 11th.

I got an e-mail from UC Davis saying they are missing GRE scores from last year.

And they told me that everyone who is applying should hear something by today about the completeness/incompleteness of their applications.

Just to let all interested Iowa applicants know: I called Iowa 1/2 and was told that interview invites have not been sent yet for the last set of interviews-files are now in review to determine who gets them

Thanks for the update. I applied to Iowa and hadn't heard so I was starting to wonder!

Hey,

So I got a letter back in Nov right after submitting the supplemental for Mizzou, saying I would not be considered since I had not been a full time student for a semester in the last 5 years. I thought that was the end of it until I got a letter today. I have typed it word for word for the OCDers like myself out there. I don't really know if this means the rest of you out there should be expecting letters too, or if they just felt they needed to tell me once again that I was not in (Very Tacky in my opinion) but at the very least it seems they've decided on their OOS spots for now, maybe. I am still mad at them for not making it clear on the VCMAS stats or even on their homepage that I needed to have been a full-time student in the last 5 years; that was a hundred bucks I could have saved!

Dear Fargeese,

This letter is to inform you that the Committee on Admissions and Scholarship did not include you among the applicants who were recommended for admission into the professional curriculum in veterinary medicine at the University of Missouri for August 2008. The Committee processed many applications in selecting the Class of 2012. We hope to be able to provide more seats for nonresident applicants in the near future.

Thank you for your interest blah blah.

Hope the info helps, and here's hoping the next letter I get is nicer, ha ha!

I'm sorry Fargeese. Missouri is really missing out on some great applicants with valuable life experiences by limiting their admissions pool that way.

I think that too, and not just because I am one of the unlucky older students. I just don't understand why they would want all their students to be 23-25, which is what you are going to get by putting in that requirement. They would get a more balanced and mature class by having a range of ages, but people my age have mortgages and jobs, which precludes going to school full-time, and so I doubt they will end up with many experienced (i.e. old, ha ha) students.

I really just posted the letter so everyone else could go home and haunt their mailboxes, if they weren't already 😉 And I am not too upset, except about the money, since I applied to 4 other schools, none of which has rejected me yet, so that's good.

Oh as long as I am updating, I talked to someone at IL in Nov. as well, because I was trying to get them to count my Biophysics class in my science GPA. I did not win that battle (why? what subject _should_ it go under, sheesh!) but the person I talked to said it didn't matter since I was past "Phase I", which was the academic review portion. So if you haven't heard anything from IL yet, I would take it as a positive.

Thanks for the update, Fargeese. I've pretty much written off Missouri figuring it's a matter of time before I get a letter like that.
