Hey, has anyone heard back from Kentucky? I applied a long time ago and my status reads "Screening hold," which I assume is a different way of saying "You're out-of-state, so we're placing you on hold indefinitely." Anyone's status read differently? Any out-of-staters heard anything else from UK? Any past applicants that know anything about their process?

Current Application Status:

Haha, great...they took a while to receive mine too, even though I requested their shipment a week before I submitted the secondary. I like UK, but Louisville seems to be more on top of things than them.

I just sent them an email playing dumb asking if I forgot to do something. Hopefully that will get them to download my VE if they hadn't already and get the status updated.

Does your Louisville app say something about "Pending" LORs? I'm wondering why a few schools list my LORs as pending or needing to be certified.

Good idea with Kentucky - I'd say that will get them to work on it. As for Louisville, I'm complete and the LOR status page shows all five being received and under review. At least they're reviewing my app (or putting on the front to appear so) unlike UK. 🙁

UofL has been reviewing my app since the 9th...

I sent Kentucky my LORs on like July 5th but they never received them...I had to send them again.

I should add that you shouldn't hesitate to call. Danielle (the admissions assistant) is very nice and should let you know what else they need from you.

Does anyone know if UK accepts interfolio evals? I know they take virtualeval...I'm figuring on having my recommendation writers just fill in the special UK forms and mail them separately, with the letters sent through interfolio. Would this work? Or should I just call and ask? Thanks!

They're all super nice at UK - so just call.

I applied OOS last year and it took them almost a month to go from sending the secondary to marking me complete. But once you're complete they're pretty quick to review you: took them less than 2 weeks to offer me an interview.

So just be patient.

And if you get an interview be glad that they have a <1 week turnaround.

I'd rather they be slow about acknowledging letters of rec and fast to let you know if you're in or not.

Do you mean once you are notified, your interview date is witin 1 week? or

Do you mean post interview decisions are within a week?

Post interview decisions are within one week. Ick I'm out of state, getting flights in a week would have been tough.

I think I got my invite in late August, and my interview was in late October - so they notified me like 2 months before...

So, when I check my status on the UK website, it has come back with :

Current Application Status: Interview(s) To Be Scheduled

For the last couple weeks it has stated that. I have had all of my materials in since 1 August.

Just wondering if anyone knows if this means I scored an interview, or they just haven't scheduled their interviews yet and will get back to me.

Thanks!

Yeah, I've been stuck on Eval/Recc - Missing Info for about a week now. Maybe the one remaining professor writting me a rec is just being slow...

Anyone else think that the whole process at UK is much better than UofL? UofL's website has no good information on it and their online application is vague at best. They also make you print it out and mail it in, but aren't very specific on what needs to be mailed in. I don't know, so far I just have a better impression of UK overall, even though UofL is an older program.

I dunno, Louisville's page has always updated sooner than Kentucky's has.

elderjack - it sounds like you're getting an interview.

I had this same impression last year when I applied.

Yeah...you're probably right. I forgot how big of a pain Louisville's was (1283943 500 character essays + printoffs = awful), but they do seem to move more quickly. Maybe I'm biased because I'm on "screening hold" at Kentucky and might be in stasis forever. :myeh:

I emailed them a while back about recs through Interfolio in lieu of those special sheets. They said just sending Interfolio recs was fine.

Thanks! no special sheets it is!

FYI - if your status says this at UK:

Current Application Status: Interview(s) To Be Scheduled

You will be getting an interview. They haven't begun scheduling regular applicants as they are working through the EDP folks first.

How do you get a hold of her directly? I called the number in her email but it sent me to a directory.

She sent me an email response to my question about my "Missing Info" status that said that my VirtualEvals packet contains a cover sheet for someone other than me...

I think it goes to the directory when she is away from her desk.

Im EDP, but they still have me at "missing EVAL" I called and talked to them for like 30 minutes yesterday about it. She said someone who fit the description of my last letter writer walked it in yesterday but still no update this morning (the system cycles at 2 am).

I have an interview scheduled for Tuesday. Yup, I've got 6 days to prepare.

I've got an interview Saturday 25 August. Anyone else on board?

Damn, Danielle IS nice. That was the kindest way I think anyone could ever be told "We're not going to review you again for several months." God bless Kentucky.

🙁 sorry

Nah it's cool. I like the school, but at the same time it's a whole lot more expensive than my state schools. Gotta keep it in perspective!

I was confirmed this morning and there was an interview invite in the inbox! 8/28 interview

I have been on that status for like three weeks now. I was told by the ADCOM that they need to finish scheduling all of their EDP interviews first, judging by this thread they still haven’t finished that yet.

Anyone know how long the lagtime is between the invite email and this status?

I got my invite the same day that the status was posted. Good Luck!

Bump. Still on this status with no email.

sent to screening.. for the last week or two

My status never said anything about being sent to screening. It went from something about having all my evaluations to "Screening Hold" last night. I'm guessing that it means I've been screened and they're not rejecting me, but not gagging for an interview either. (*sigh*)

Man... I submitted my secondary on 7/17, and two of my secondary letters were there kinda quick (8/10), but didnt show up until like a week ago or so... strange. I am still waiting on the letter from my ever so slow Organic Chem professor. Maybe I will sign up for Interfolio and just have her send a letter in there so I can get the letters out quicker next time ...
