keyhole help

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It's just a matter of perspective. The skinny supporting beam comes up to the half way point of the bigger top left block. If you were to imagine that it continued through the bigger block, it would distribute the left/right portions again pretty equally.

the answer is B: you can tell the block is in the middle because the furthest left line stays linear throughout your perspective. if the block was off to the left, the line would rise up to the block, move left horizontally a tad (signifying the blocks underside), then continue vertically

in other words, a block on the left would appear as if it was overhanging the board below

I wouldn't say that every question on the practice tests are going to be 100% percent accurate. I definitely wouldn't get bogged down on 1 practice problem. I had a problem with one of CrackDAT's cube counting problems because it threw in an optical illusion. From my experience the more you do the better you get. On the actual test, they are not going to throw you any questions that are ambiguous in any way.

wait, the answer is B? you linked a picture indicating that you were confused how that top left block matches up with answer choice B? or am I misunderstanding something?

well the answer is B when take the top view of it. The skinny block on the top right sticks out very little....very tricky.....(Although i don't really understand the OP's question to be honest =p )

but doesn't A work? (although apparently the top left block is not lined up along the left edge and is supposed to be indented inward a little bit..also very tricky...but i don't see it)

Ohhhh I see, from the TOP view... it is very tricky because it almost looks flush and answer A is there to trip you up on that. It's not flush because the angled view they give you shows the lines lining up. If it was actually flush, at that angle, it wouldve looked like the edge from the cube extended past that ledge. I had to really focus and you basically pointed it out for me to get it. On a real test I definitely would've saw A and chose that quickly.
