KIMBERLI COX!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Arre bhai aur kitne desi log hain SDN pe? Roz mujhe ek naya desi milta hai yahan. Par percentage dekhein to phir theek bhi hai. Agar yahi haal raha to SDN ko ek desi forum bhi kholna padega jaldee hee.

Sorry dknykid, I was overwhwlmed by the Indian presence on this thread. I have seen oldman's pic or I would be suspecting him to be desi too.

btw, halothane, please check your pm.

It isn?t german ( you should know it like you can speak so many languages, knowing 5 words in each one ), it should be danish.
I speak several languages but I don?t need to show it in an english forum.
De acuerdo?

Halothane:
I suggest you go back and read your own posts. You?ll see why so many posters on this thread think you are biased and prejudiced. Simply saying in your subsequent posts that you ?didn?t mean it? or that it wasn?t meant in a ?derogatory? sense does not absolve you of your responsibility to practice better judgment.
You have quoted half a history text on the achievements of Indians, as if that somehow proves anything about the ability of Indians in general. I could put up similar facts about every single nation on the planet, certainly about the United States. What does that prove? The approach you are taking would dictate that every single person from a country is to be judged today based on what others from the same country have done in the past. For all your boastings of your achievements and your claims of impeccable patriotism, you have given no evidence to support that you are any better than the rest of us who don?t need to resort to empty rhetoric to show our love for our country, whatever it might be.
It is one thing to take pride in the achievement of those with whom you share a common background. It is entirely another to flaunt them and play the childish game of ?my country is better than yours.? Intelligence of your peers is nothing to flaunt anyway, for it is no reflection on your intelligence, one way or the other. Yes, it is true that there are disproportionately more Indians in such professions as medicine and engineering. And it is a source of pride for all of us who hail from that soil. But, that does not give you the bragging rights, for there are plenty of people from other nations who are making their respective nations proud as well. It sure as hell does not give you the right to put down other people, while claiming that there has been widespread ?anyay? (injustice) against south Indians in this country. Discrimination and racism, as much as you would like to believe otherwise, do not justify reverse discrimination. And, if there is such a huge problem with racism as you claim [?Goron ne kiya chori 200 sal abh hamri bari hai ameer ban ne ka, usme koi galti nahin? --- Whites have been stealing for 200 years, now it is our turn to become rich, and there is nothing wrong with it.] perhaps you should look at the stats that you so proudly put up, about Indians excelling at this that and everything in between in the US.
I suggest that you grow up in a hurry and step out of that cocoon of paranoia and prejudice in which you are so tightly wrapped. It is obvious that you like to substitute flashy rhetoric for actual achievements. But, that will take you only so far. If your attitude on this forum is any indication of your behavior in life, it won?t take you long to alienate others around you. If you want respect for your country, try giving some to the country where you are currently living, where you have the luxury to be all starry-eyed with dreams of riches. Face it ? this is where you will be spending the rest of your life; you have no plans to go back to India and, God forbid, actually try to back up some of that patriotism that you have been flaunting by doing something for the poor masses (need I put up your quote about becoming ?ameer? again???)

And now looking forward to an equally well-stated answer....

:p

:) •••••Lol I can just picture a German colonel yelling out orders: Ich Liebe Anesthesiologie! Sehr Gut!

Carlsberg, however, is strictly Danish. I'm impressed you know our natioanl brew.

Dear Dane,

Like I said I love carlsberg!! infact my folks have been to the carlsberg brewery!( I almost went too) We all love the beer in my family. :)

OK I am actually not going to snap back at Qafar, his rebuttal was too verbose( no comprendar) ....like they say brevity is the soul of wit and only fools resort to verbose eloquence to mask gaping holes in logic.

Infact my whole reaction was to someone who made belittling statemnets about docs. from the third world( I think it was Kangarooo Pill Boy). I am not mad anymore as I now reckon he was probably using a primitive ego defense to reduce his test anxiety or make his goals look more achievable....he contended that they blindly prefer UK/Aussie docs. to Indians here, while that does happen at a microscopic level if the doc. was non asian but white it does not make pillmans job easier as he is asian ( so he confessed)

Oldman yes desi means from the country.
Desi Ghee is very delicious country made clarified butter( all things desi are yum yum).

I will be visiting very infrequently from now on ( getting ready to move for June) if there is anyone here who would like carry on my work, you can take the baton now! Does not just have to be Desi you know!

JGDLB, forums are for fun and free expression!! This includes all /any ideas in any language you feel like. Its called free speech!! a concept that is very popular in democracies ....though I know spain is now a democracy I was wondering if Franco's regime made you all unfamiliar with the concept.?

Hey Dane,
Just thought I would drop a quick line on the beer topic. Carlsberg is great, and you can get it everywhere in the states, but while in Copenhagen I really enjoyed Tuborg. The green label one. I did the brewery tour and all that. I really enjoy good beer, and that is one of my favorites.
JMD

I think it's time to start a beer forum here.

I actually like Tuborg better, too. Yes, the green label one (light green, that is). Back in the day, you had 2 kinds of Danes: the Carslberg drinkers and the Tuborg drinkers. Then, one day the damn companies merged and people felt kinda stupid being all militant about their beers when like the same guy made money on you whatever you bought.

Whoa, was that off topic or what? I wonder if DknyKid is like "what the hell are you doing to my thread."

Beer is absolutely my favorite beverage, hieneken, carlsbeg and michelob being my choice. But I 'd started packing too much lard on my waist, switched temporarily to O'Douls non alcoholic and guess what its not bad at all!

PS The real topic of this discussion is long gone, beer should be nice diversion. I hate to discuss the stuff I had been discussing before....got outa hand. Man after the match I had way tooo much time on my hand!! thank god I am busy again moving now....like they say lazy mind devils workshop!

•Sorry Kimberly, this thread bearing your name has gotten pretty ugly.•••••Yes it has, hasn't it?!

While I cannot be bothered to read every thread (and am unable to read some of the non-English ones. Please guys, refrain from posting outside of the English language.) I feel the nedd to clarify my earlier statement about "preferences". IMHO USMLE scores are the prime factor in further reviewing a residency applicant and moving toward ranking that person highly. Therefore, I wholeheartedly agree that a person from the UK with a 190 on Step 1 (lets stay away from digit scores; schools don't use them anymore) will NOT generally be preferred over someone from say a Caribbean school with a 230 on the same exam. That's just logical.

BUT ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL (which was the point of my statement), I still believe that there is a bias - whether overt or covert - for grads of ANGLO Commonwealth schools. As a WASP I cannot responsibly participate in the discussion of racism in residency selection, but to be honest I KNOW it exists - when it comes down to it, if two applicants are equal as can be, both equally liked, the applicant who is native English speaking, from a Commonwealth country will ALMOST ALWAYS be preferred.

Yawn...I'm getting tired of this thread, so will sign off. If you wish to further discuss this topic, please do so:

1) in ENGLISH
2) in another thread without my name attached
3) please review the TOS which asks individuals to refrain from personal attacks. Members who continue to do so will lose their posting priviledges.

Thanks guys.

Well then one has to accept that this is discrimination in employment based on national origin which is illegal! Well suprises me there has never been a lawsuit as yet( or has there?).....well also does not suprise me why the tone of the AAPI is so strong on further strengthening the Indian lobby and presence in medicine( as a reaction)

I cant believe that this thread actually got these many posts!!

lol...however, about 90% have nothing to do with the original topic, but heck thats ok!

=)

Halothane:
It is just as well that you don't wish to respond. It'll save you some embarrassment. As it is, I don't have much time to waste on your baseless nonsense, and God knows I don't have nearly the same talent as you when it comes to "brevity...the soul of wit"
It's funny, however, that you should bring up the matter of verbosity. Am I being delusional, or was it you who put up a post half a mile in length, which, incidently, had nothing to do with what was being discussed upto that point? Well, since you in your infinite wisdom cannot be bothered to be wrong, I will answer my own question and conclude that I was being delusional. Oops! Here I go, being verbose again!

If you go back to the initial posts regarding the topic you'll see the point that Kimberli Cox just expressed was made from the very beginning. Unfortunately for some people it took way too many long posts and the introduction of slurs and personal attacks (some carefully disguised in another language) before the message was actually able to penetrate.

As far as Halothane goes, he has managed to insult just about everyone who doesn't come from India. It's actually a clever tactic since in doing this he was able to divert attention away from the fact that he never actually responded to any of the legitimate questions that were raised about the 'stats' or info he threw out or his derogatory statements in Hindi.

Is it mere coincidence that disputes seem to arise around the threads he posts in?

I have not said anything unwarranted or unprovoked. I have not said anything that does not have evidence. I spoke nothing but the truth.

What I said in Hindi I substantiated with a weblink that documents the little known and real discrimination against Indians.

What I said was in rebuttal to belittling of Indians and Indian grads I say with pride for I do not consider those of us who do well here second to any other professional group.

Its true and real that the Anglo Saxon physicians are covertly discriminating against Asian medical professionals for fear of a complete takeover of the medical profession by them.

If a white man feels insulted because a colored tells him you discriminate ...then the former is scared to be confronted by what he has done.

If a colored says he will overcome and make it big despite the odds due to his intelligence why should the others feel intimidated?

In my Hindi posts I said the white man robbed for 200 years now its our turn to do well....is that false? why the hippocrisy? British occupation left India impoverished, their divide and rule and drawing of disputed boundaries is the cause of ethnic strife in the region to this day, the typical Anglo Saxon male dominated the medical profession here for decades and to this day they try to keep their domination especially of the coveted specialities....If there are more Asians in medicine today it is not because of the magnanimity of the Anglo Saxon group its simply because so many Asians are determined to pursue medical education in the US and work hard for it.

Why then the dispute? why feel insulted or intimidated by the truth? Why does everyone always want to sound politically correct when it comes at the expense of the reality? And last of all how on earth do I become racist if i said we are discriminated against? Ooops is it because its not cool to say its done??

Thats all from me moving for good to www.residentweb.com found an AAPI forum there.

Hell yeah!!!

finally someone says what i feel...damn i hate the british. i don't like thier island, their fog, mince pies (what the hell is that...meat in a pie...crap),fish, chips, bad teeth (for god's sakes man its all about FLOURIDE and a toothbrush),david frost, the queen or any of her freakin inbred hemophiliac relatives, camelot, lord of the rings, the beatles (except george "hare krishna" harrison, of course), eric clapton (if i want blues i'll listen to the real thing),"the sun never sets on the..."...kiss my ass you bloodsucking brits, rudyard kipling (what a hack)...that is about it for now. give us back our gold and jewels you rapacious bastards!

editor's note: this message was posting in hopes of furthuring international brotherhood and harmony
