Halothane:
I suggest you go back and read your own posts. You?ll see why so many posters on this thread think you are biased and prejudiced. Simply saying in your subsequent posts that you ?didn?t mean it? or that it wasn?t meant in a ?derogatory? sense does not absolve you of your responsibility to practice better judgment.
You have quoted half a history text on the achievements of Indians, as if that somehow proves anything about the ability of Indians in general. I could put up similar facts about every single nation on the planet, certainly about the United States. What does that prove? The approach you are taking would dictate that every single person from a country is to be judged today based on what others from the same country have done in the past. For all your boastings of your achievements and your claims of impeccable patriotism, you have given no evidence to support that you are any better than the rest of us who don?t need to resort to empty rhetoric to show our love for our country, whatever it might be.
It is one thing to take pride in the achievement of those with whom you share a common background. It is entirely another to flaunt them and play the childish game of ?my country is better than yours.? Intelligence of your peers is nothing to flaunt anyway, for it is no reflection on your intelligence, one way or the other. Yes, it is true that there are disproportionately more Indians in such professions as medicine and engineering. And it is a source of pride for all of us who hail from that soil. But, that does not give you the bragging rights, for there are plenty of people from other nations who are making their respective nations proud as well. It sure as hell does not give you the right to put down other people, while claiming that there has been widespread ?anyay? (injustice) against south Indians in this country. Discrimination and racism, as much as you would like to believe otherwise, do not justify reverse discrimination. And, if there is such a huge problem with racism as you claim [?Goron ne kiya chori 200 sal abh hamri bari hai ameer ban ne ka, usme koi galti nahin? --- Whites have been stealing for 200 years, now it is our turn to become rich, and there is nothing wrong with it.] perhaps you should look at the stats that you so proudly put up, about Indians excelling at this that and everything in between in the US.
I suggest that you grow up in a hurry and step out of that cocoon of paranoia and prejudice in which you are so tightly wrapped. It is obvious that you like to substitute flashy rhetoric for actual achievements. But, that will take you only so far. If your attitude on this forum is any indication of your behavior in life, it won?t take you long to alienate others around you. If you want respect for your country, try giving some to the country where you are currently living, where you have the luxury to be all starry-eyed with dreams of riches. Face it ? this is where you will be spending the rest of your life; you have no plans to go back to India and, God forbid, actually try to back up some of that patriotism that you have been flaunting by doing something for the poor masses (need I put up your quote about becoming ?ameer? again???)
