Hello everyone! I'm a little confused and I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. I graduated with a B.S. in Physics and I am wanting to pursue a career in medicine. I have looked into the postbaccalaureate programs, but I'm kind of in the middle here. I have the proper physics and inorganic chemistry background both for taking the MCAT and for applying to medical schools, but I don't have the organic chemistry or the biology. Do you think it would be better for me to just go back as a non-degree seeking student and take 2 semesters of organic and the biology rather than looking into these postbaccalaureate programs? I am very confused on the biology to take. The pre-med advisor at my school hasn't been helpful to me at all. He suggested going back and getting a second B.S. in Biology or Biochemistry. I'm not rich, so that's not going to happen. I have seen a list of topics that the MCAT covers as far as Biology is concerned and it seems that I would have to take a ton of biology courses when I've been told that two is sufficient. Does anyone have a list of biology courses (physiology, cellular biology, microbiology, genetics) that they would recommend I take or would I benefit more by enrolling in a postbacc. program? I would appreciate any advice anyone can give. Thanks so much!
