good luck!This whole $4 script thing is getting ridiculous. So you save 11 cents on your amoxicillin if you go to Kmart. Stupid!
The funny thing is that Walmart has been selling many of these drugs for less through Sams Club for years. Many of the drugs on the list will be less than $12 for a 90 day supply at Sams. And you won't have to go back every month to pick up 30 at a time.

I guess the stores will start giving away $5 with every free prescription you get. They'll start paying people to get their drugs.
yah, and the customers that you get seeking these 11 cent price drops will be ******* too.....guarantee it. Not worth it; NO WAY. Further degradation of retail pharmacy, yay 👎

In some areas those are now $30. Kroger has been giving away $60 (3 RXs at $20 gift cards a piece) in certain promotions. The marketing people keep saying this works , so I keep giving their money away.
Yeah....I love how Kroger has implemented that. There is evidence of numerous hours of planning in that promotion. Let's give patients a twenty dollar gift card for every new or transferred rx. But we can't just give them gift cards....oh no, we are technologically advanced. We will put the twenty dollars on the patients store V.I.P card. This idea wont allow the pharmacy staff to the full $60 on at one time, making them ring up three separate orders. Finally we can get our moneys worth. They dont have enough to do anyways. For added fun we wont tell the patient, is that twenty dollars is only good towards SOME products which will cause them to return to the pharmacy and yell at the staff more.

yes, yes, and yes. i can't even tell you how many times i will have to say, "in the fine print..." during the coupon promotion times. it's awful.
Ahhhhh!!!!!! The COUPONS!!!!! Yep, the marketing people will tell you the coupons are a wonderful success. Bulls**t!!!! I like to call it coupon ping-pong. For every transfer coupon I do I guarantee 95% transfer back or somewhere else the next month.
As far as the Kroger $60.00 coupon, it is for customers that marketing has identified as store shoppers who do not use the pharmacy. It is an awesome coupon! It is about 2 inches by 2 inches and says nothing about how to use it or its restrictions. However, I received a 5-page e-mail detailing the restrictions and instructions on how to activate the coupon. Imagine the hilarity that ensues when the customer tries to use their $60! But it doesn't say I can't use all $60.00 at one time. What do you mean I can't have change back from my 25-cent bubble gum purchase? What!?!?!? I can't use it to buy gas/cigarettes/alcohol. All this is immediately followed by; I am going back to the Pharmacy and to get all straightened out!!!!!
Ohhhh well, just one more thing to brighten my day!!!!!
I think CVS tried something similar to that. Get your prescription in 30 minutes or less or its free. They realized quickly that the free prescription was not coming out of the Pharmacists pocket therefore the Pharmacist could careless how fast it got filled.
I know EXACTLY what your talking about with the prescription "ping pong". Seems like every month or so we transfer out to wags across the street and get some old patients back.
I have no idea what the marketing people are thinking. Another promotion we are doing is giving $25 gift cards for new rx's. Which is fine because it has limitations and restrictions on the bottom. We actually give them gift cards so that eliminates the V.I.P problem. Of course no one follows directions or they think they are exempt. Case in point:
This lady comes through the drive through and drops off six new scripts to be filled. No big deal, the other tech told her it would be ready at a certain time and she left. She comes back to pick up and hands me six coupons for the $25 gift cards. I kindly tell her I cant give her the gift cards because it says in black and white ONE COUPON PER FAMILY. She continues to argue with me that she is entitled to a $150 gift card.😱 I tell her there is nothing I can do. I come in a couple days later and was informed that she called the DM and complained that she was bieng wronged. When it was all said and done, they informed the manager she would be comming back to get her $125 for her other coupons.
Why put that your only allowed one coupon per family if your not going to enforce it?
how about this? we give away as much free giftcards as we can and then the marketing idiots may get the hint.

It's happened. Kroger is officially ******ed. Giant Eagle has started the free antibiotic thing, too. (Cipro is included...rock...) But here's the kicker, not only will we pricematch Giant Eagle, but we will honor any competitior coupon. So, in theory, if I brought in a script for 14 days worth of Cipro 500 and one of those $20 gift card coupons for a new/transferred script, Kroger will pay me to take drugs from them.

This is great! I have a little sniffle - probably acute sinusitis. I can get my amoxicillin for free plus some groceries. I gotta call my doctor!
So, for these places that give free antibiotics, do they bill your insurance and then waive the co-pay or do they just not charge, period?

Well the cost for a 500 count bottle of Amoxicillin 500mg is $16.57. Which averages to about 3 cents per capsule. So if they give it away they are still making money taking into account all the extra stuff people always buy when they are sick....Vitamin C, echinacea, cough and cold stuff. Pretty smart really, although I am glad we do not do it.

I can see it now, people will get the antibiotic from kroger because its free and they get a twenty dollar gift card. If they dont have an antibiotic, they will go wally world or target for the "$4 medication" even if it's not on the list. Thus adding to the problem of an incomplete patient profile.actually, they are going to get their echinacea, vitamin C, and cold product for free with the $20 gift card they will recieve for the new rx.....GENIUS
4 dollars 5 dollars or 3.98 is not there to give these uber deals, it is go get people in the door.
My pharmacy has gone $4 (work for the Red one not the Blue one) and business has increased 40%, my sales #s have doubled and my profit percentage has not dropped. The people with $4 have come over and they bring more Rxs with them, not just the $4 Rxs.

I don't really mind it.
