~Labor day submitters, what have you heard from the schools you’ve applied to?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Complete on 9/9 everywhere and only heard back from 4 schools so far out of 22 (3IIs and 1R). I'm only able to attend 2 of them due to scheduling and other issues, but I'm pretty happy to have 2 interviews planned given the lateness of my app. Again, I'm pretty sure most places haven't even gotten to our apps yet. I think if we already have 1 or 2 IIs we should be totally fine.

I'm literally getting 0 responses its honestly the weirdest thing and I submitted around the same time

Sent most MD secondaries after receiving my 2nd MCAT score on 9/4 (499 --> 511). cGPA 3.79, sGPA 3.76.

I already have been accepted to my top DO school choice (Thank God)

I have heard nothing from the MD schools, starting to think there isn't that great of odds left for the rest of the cycle.

My adviser said IIs come through January, so we've still got plenty of time. Good luck everyone!

My PI, who is the MSTP director at a top 10 school, said that for MD schools " As of Thanksgiving we will be around 60% through the interview invitation process with some more being released in first half of December, January, and then winding down in February."

So even after Thanksgiving, we will only be barely past half of the II process. Personally, I won't call it quits until mid January.

To all applicants, have hope.
Wow! That's awesome news! What a relief! Thanks for sharing!

Submitted in mid-august top DO choice as well but no MD news I guess we were a bit too late

For schools I am complete by labor day, it has been been much silence. I have a strong feeling I will get some good news from them this coming week though 🙂

guys my coworker in a lab received all like six to seven but one IIs last year after new year from January to February maybe one even in march can't really remember, and he got into two schools, so don't give up!

MD or DO?

Wow, that sounds encouraging. Does he have high stats though?
kinda low undergrad gpa around 3.5 but almost a 4.0 post-bac gpa from a top 10 school, around 514ish mcat can't remember the exact number, completed in August too. one thing he did at the time was kept sending updates to all schools. Nothing stellar in other aspects instead of the stellar post-bac performance and maybe that MCAT (just for me it is high)

I'm later than you folks, 9/18-10/2. Been stung by USC and Pitt so far. I think something's got to give this week but my spreadsheet tells me to wait until Thanksgiving before I get worried. Just so happens that's about the time this forum says I should start thinking about next year's cycle, lol.

You should be worried if you don't have ANY IIs by Thanksgiving. Nearly 40% of IIs still go out after that.

I am only aware of this thread for rough estimation of remaining IIs by month: Planeblue's Interview Invite Tracker. Looks to be about 35% although their sample size is small and people on here trend towards July submissions.

Individually, I can't say I'll feel too comfortable with 1 or even 2 II (depending on the post-II A rates) come then but it would be an uptick from now. However, the spreadsheet I made has a rough "expectation" of the *earliest* a school can start reviewing my file so it's all best case scenarios. Could be 10 IIs in February waiting for me

All of this data is potentially dated though since school's keep changing up their admin, just hoping for better this week

I personally have a good feeling about this month, especially as a Labor day submitter. It seems like schools are wrapping up reviewing July apps.

update with you all, a friend of mine told me he got some December IIs last year when he applied, his stats were 3.99 GPA and 523 or 524 MCAT

Now this makes more sense. Unfortunately, most of us are not at his level to gain anywhere near his results 🙁

The thing is that this is all self-reported and not every single pre-med is on SDN.

Per LizzyM and goro though they do often say that pre-Thanksgiving II is definitely an indicator that you won't have to repeat another cycle etc.

MD or DO?
Friendly reminder that the DO cycle is longer, so the ' Be worried if you haven't heard back by T-Giving" Does not apply for DO! According to my amateur research, II is still going strong for DO in Dec, Jan, and even Feb! Just came off the NYITCOM thread where someone complete in July for the last cycle said that they didn't get an II until Feb!

Complete 9/1-10/1. Have 2 Interviews; 2 Holds (Drexel and GWU); 1 Interview waitlist (WVU); 1 half interview (western med); 3 R (USC, Cleveland, Pitt)

Really does seem like adcoms are only in July! We have a ways to go.
I was complete samw timeframe as you, looks like you got plenty of movement though- I've gotten nothing (including R's and holds).

3 Interviews (Rosalind Franklin, GWU, WVU) and 2 rejections (Pitt and Wake Forest). Not a bad start but still haven't heard from state schools yet...

I submitted my secondaries from 8-30 to 9-12, and I've received 3 IIs and 2 rejections. The two rejections came from the past week, so hopefully that means more schools are looking at my application.

Definitely picking up the pace. I'm thinking this upcoming week and the ones leading up to Thanksgiving should bring some more decisions.
In another thread, LizzyM said that there is usually a lull before the AAMC conference, after which another wave of decisions and IIs will follow. The conference is this weekend

aha new decisions! Inb4 rafter r after r 🙁

Okay, since there is not AAMC meeting this week, and Thanksgiving is next week, I'm really nervous about something this week ( most likely a pre-II from UMASS or TuftsSom or something.) It just feels like, I've been complete for two months, so I should hear something soon. And I feel like since they'll be moving full-steam-ahead after not doing much last week and next week is also a short week so this week they'll plow through a lot.
