anyone else finding that they are dodging the rejection waves (wake forest, BU, gwu, rosalind)? was complete end of august to mid september.
coming in with 4rs and 1 ii. A little discouraging to be honest, but im trying to keep my head up
Cheerz my friend. I really appreciate your support and your success makes me happyI didn’t know you had gotten an II, congrats my friend, that’s awesome!!! The Rs definitely sting but an II before Thanksgiving is amazing 😊

Yea I applied to schools im almost certain I should have been rejected from by now but haven't heard back from them so I don’t know what to think.
Same!yeah same!!! all of these schools have straight up skipped over my completion date so I'm super confused at this point.
Wow that timeline is exactly me! Can I ask what your LM is?I submitted my secondaries between Aug 28 and Sep 15. I have 2 IIs, 1IA (1 T30, 1 T20), 6 Rs, 2 pre II waitlists, and silence from over 20 schools.

I also have 2 IIs but I have 4 Rs and 1 hold. Still gotta hear from 23 schools, though some of those schools are almost done with their interviews so that's basically a silent R.
Similar time frame as you, ive sent a ton of update letters to expedite things potentially (although not sure if it has that effect).
Very similar timeline. 4IIs, 3 pre-II holds, 1 post-II WL, waiting on 2 post II decisions, 1 interview coming up, no Rs yet. So it seems like submitting submitting by labor day is actually somewhat late after all. Also fortunate to have multiple interviews ( just 2 lol) 1 top 20 and my state school.
50% of the MATRICULANTS get 4 or less interviews.50 percent of applicants get 4 or less interviews. I have 4 but I think I'll get maybe 1 or 2 more which would put me ahead of the majority of people. I have interviews to a top 5, school, a top 30 school, a top 60ish school, and a newer MD school. I applied to MANY schools, so it just goes to show how weird this process is.

My LM is 74, CA resident. 3 of those Rs are from T10 schools and the others from schools that take a very small percentage of OOS students. I am thinking of sending update/continued interest letters to couple of schools where I felt like I could have gained IIs but not certain if I should since I do not have any significant updates.
I will guess it will be around 50% of the applicants don't get any interview and 10% get interviews but don't get in.Damn. Then I wonder what the actual stats are? What percent of applicants don't get a single interview II at all? @Goro
Also, according to AAMC's data, 1.2 percent of matriculants attended 0 interviews. How is that possible? Were

worst position is you get one but don't get in.If I remember correctly @gonnif said that 60% of applicants get 1 interview or less and he had a heuristic where 1 is good, 2 is great and 3+ is excellent!
I think the chart beats 1000 words. No, I wasnt talking about applicants but matriculants (see table below)
I will say that with about over 900,000 individual applications submitted across all MD schools, there are only at max 150,000 interview slots which means that at best 20% of the applications filed get any action (ie II). Therefore if you file 15 applications, 3 II would be average based on aggregate numbers. At any individual school, they may get 5000+ applications for 1,000 interview slots so at least 80% do not get an interview. Going further in this estimate, if a school takes these 5,000 and cuts the bottom 50%, you still have to sort through another 2500 to choose a 1,000 II, This means that yet another 1500 applicants, many who are solid, simply need to be cut based on finite interview slots.

given that the average post-II acceptance rate for one interview is around 33%, it looks like there might be twice the amount of applicants who got one interview but didn't get in. So if 20% of matriculants got in with one interview, that is 8% of the total applicants (20% times 40%), so it means that maybe around 16% of applicants who got one interview but didn't get in. Therefore. it looks like about 44% of applicants who don't receive any interview. Of course, I am not counting those with 2+ II's but didn't get in...We can only surmise the applicants who do not become successful matriculants have fewer II
+1 (we have one state school)Absolute silence from my state schools. Pretty ridiculous. At least I have a couple interviews at great schools, but I would really like my state to show me some love lol.
Didn’t your daughter apply well before Labor Day, though?+1 (we have one state school)
Edit to my post above. Make that 3 IIs in 2 days. It's a Christmas miracle!!!!
(How I feel right now)
So many people told me it was over for me cause of my submission deadlines haha
completely unfounded rumors! So many people told me it was over for me cause of my submission deadlines haha
it's this hurry up and wait mentality...It's because of the fear mongering perpetuated by the "Thanksgiving deadline." A lot of people misinterpret what it means. I think I mentioned a month or two ago that around 40% of IIs remain after Thanksgiving and so far it seems to be true (at least on my end).
mythbusters we are!Honestly I had to try really hard to believe in my app and have faith that it would be okay even with later submission dates. It's interesting how it seems like adcoms don't really go in order of completion date, yet there's these rumors. My only regret about applying earlier is that maybe I would have an acceptance by now in time for Xmas haha. Is what it is.
I'm seriously proud of us all!!!
Where does this number come from? Im assuming for self-reported individuals on SDN right? It's because of the fear mongering perpetuated by the "Thanksgiving deadline." I heard it from a dean at a top 10 schoolWhere does this number come from? Im assuming for self-reported individuals on SDN right?
