LASIK scam - beware

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It looks like someone put a laser pointer inside the handle of an electronic carving knife.

wtf

*This statement has not been evaluated by the FDA. Really. Huh.

Notice it's "100% safe". Not only is it cheaper, it's also apparently BETTER than regular lasik. Do you have a corneal dystrophy or keratoconus? No worry, step right up!

OMG! That is hilarious! I am sitting here LOL in my office. People will think I am nuts.

That page is awesome. I want to print it up poster size and hang it in my office!

Thanks for brightening my day.

No posters, but they have t-shirts with the 4 easy steps! Yes!

I tried to order one, but it kept saying error. 🙁

it's a joke ....

You don't say? Wow, here I was all hopeful for a home cure for my near-sightedness. Thank you for showing me the light. 🙄

I almost fell off my chair when I saw this ad. VERY FUNNY. I wonder if this guy is REALLY an ophtho in real life. The real kicker was the cartoon part where they showed the guy blinking while using the machine and smoke coming from his eye!

Thanks for making my day!

There is no UPIN for a physician by that name (could mean he never participated in medicare or never billed any insurance, but that would be rather unlikely). Also, there is no ABMS entry under that name (--> not board certified).

Ever wondered what an 'optical surgeon' is ? (maybe an optician with surgical priviledges. It can all happen in Oklahoma)

I wonder who is behind this hoax.

INDUSTRY NEWS

Web site advertises do-it-yourself LASIK surgery kit The Web site for LASIK@Home advertises "Affordable In-Home LASIK Surgery," developed by Dr. Amir Khadim, MD, a pioneer in the field of LASIK surgery who practices at the "prestigious Bennett Eye Care Institute in New York City." The site is an apparent tongue-in-cheek hoax since no such physician or clinic exists, and readers who attempt to purchase the device get a Web site server error message. However, hats, t-shirts and coffee mugs with the Lasik@Home logo are available for purchase. An FDA official contacted about the Web site wrote, "We do not believe there is an enforcement option at this point in time, but we will continue to follow the situation."
