My GPA has been slowly declining for the past 3 semesters due to a number of reasons--transferring to a much larger school and getting used to massive classes, a long commute, personal & social problems, and, frankly, lack of interest in some classes. Right now, my last 3 semesters are ~0.2 lower than than my cumulative. This semester is ~0.2 lower than that. This semester I was all geared up to get back on track, but this was my worst semester ever, GPA wise. Worst of all, I got a C in Biochemistry. I think I would have gotten better grades had I not been sick the last month and a half (mono-like) and had more energy to study, but that doesn't help me much now.
Of course, these are all excuses, and some of them are pretty poor 😕. Frankly, even with this, my cGPA is pretty good, my sGPA is still good, and even my recent GPA is not too bad, but the I am really worried about the sharp drop. I am applying for c/o 2014 and have an interview at Mizzou and have not heard from my other schools (I don't think anyone else has either). I also have some good GRE scores and have good and varied experiences.
So my questions are--Does anyone think that this will come up at the interview? Can anyone think of a way to spin this? Should I bring this up if they don't and think I can put this in a more positive light? Do people get in with such sharp drops in GPA?
Thanks so much for your input!
