My school's pre-med committee has informed us that our letters will be ready mid-August. Is it worth harassing them to hurry up if my application reached ready for review today (7/5) ? This is assuming that I'll have all my secondaries written and ready to go in two weeks. Will 3 weeks make a large difference ?

My stats are 3.6/34, top LAC. My clinical volunteering is below average but I have lots of research, other community service, and work experience.

Is it worth asking them to hurry on the letter ???

I don't think so. They have a lot of letters to write and I doubt that they would appreciate being told to hurry up. My schools told us that our letters would be in by early August but sent them mid-late July. It shouldn't make a huge difference. Interview invites are sent throughout the year and although you might be looked at earlier with an earlier submission, there's no guarantee of early interviews. Some schools also say that they review randomly although I have no idea about the veracity of their claims.

It's perfectly fine to wait til your committee's scheduled August release date. Med schools are aware of many committees' release dates and should not impact on your chances to receive an interview invite.

If your amcas just became ready to review today you're looking at potentially a 5 week turnaround before it's even verified, then you have to submit all your secondaries, so it looks like you'll be on the late end either way.
