My understanding is that late in the residency interview process, interview spots sometimes open up, as some applicants will cancel their later (January) interviews. Does anyone know when applicants are most likely to notify residency programs that they will not be attending these interviews? I'm a residency applicant who is considering sending emails out to some of the programs I've applied to in order to ask them to consider me for any interview spots that may open up, and I'm wondering what the best time to do this would be. Is it already too late to do this?
