Who do we know of that specifically denies credit in visiting clerkships to non-LCME students (i.e. osteopaths). I know that UCSF does not give credit, and I believe that Duke does not, either. Anyone else know of any big-time schools that have this policy? I would like to rotate somewhere nice and get a good letter...I have no real hope of matching my field at any of these places, but if anyone has tried to set up rotations at:

Hopkins
Harvard
Yale
Mayo
Emory
Stanford
Columbia
Cornell
Michigan
Cleveland Clinic (university affiliation??)
etc.

let me know how that went for you.

Mayo is very DO friendly for both rotations and residency.

I'm surprised about the Cleveland Clinic. Their residency programs seem very DO friendly and one of our core rotation sites is a Cleveland Clinic affiliated community hospital.

These are hospitals that I do not know about. I am asking for info.

My bad, I guess i didn't read the posts close enough. I haven't seen anything that indicated that either Cleveland Clinic or Emory were off limits to Non-LCME students. I was definitely planning on rotating at Emory.

this from mayo:

"Must have completed approximately 52 weeks of clinical experiences prior to the start of their clerkship (Verification by your medical school is required.) as follows: Eight weeks each of Medicine, Pediatrics, Ob/Gyn and Surgery and 20 weeks of electives."

We only get 4 weeks of OB/Gyn, pediatrics and surgery...yuck, that would mean possibly taking an OB elective.

But there are no LCME issues.

Wait..does any school take 8 weeks of OB. My school is 6 and my old school was 4. I have never heard of 2 months of OB. I could be wrong.

I get six weeks OB and six weeks peds...I was planning on applying for an away rotation at Mayo, hopefully that won't be a problem. I rather doubt the majority of schools give eight weeks to each!

I would imagine that you would have to do some electives in OB, etc. to complete the requirement.
