Our pathology course is only two months long, and due to some problems I will be unable to study for one month.

Do you think it is possible to learn pathology - using RR, goljan audio and big robbins - in just one month?

Missing an entire month of studying in med school would make it very difficult to catch up with all the learning that was supposed to happen in that month, even if the path course spanned the whole year. Missing 1 month of a 2 month course would be even harder. Pathology is a massive, and important, course, and should be studied for appropriately. I missed a week of school several weeks ago and it has been so hard to make up for that week while studying the current stuff.

Of course, if your circumstances absolutely prevent you from studying for an entire month, then there is nothing you can do, and it doesnt really matter if people think path in 1 month can be done or not. But if there is any way to avoid missing a month of studying, do that.

It would be possible to just learn just the Path highest yield facts in 1 month, but it wouldnt be preferable because you would be missing out on some of the foundation and just trying to memorize completely random facts about each disease.

Do you usually feel like you could finish your courses at 2x the speed your med school uses? The answer to this question for most people is no.

No.

Why is your path course only 2 months?

LOL mine spans the entire 2nd yr. And being that it is only 2 months missing half of it and trying to make up for it seems futile at BEST. At worst its an absolute recipe for failure.

Yeah same here. I falsely assumed Path was year round for everyone since there is so much info

Just don't sleep for that catch up month and you'll be fine 😀

The other thing, pathology is maybe the most important course of the first 2 yrs and is an enormous portion of Step I. You want to be an path expert going into that exam...

Pathology is one of THE most imp courses in med schoool and for Step 1. You may want to cut down the number of resources you have. Pocket Robbins may be of help also.

Trying to learn path in one month is like trying to learn to learn anatomy in one week.

I can't even believe your school only teaches you path for two months. Are you sure it isn't like intro to basic path or a subsection or path?

Man, I took path over 8 months and that was a mental work out. I am not going to say that I can't be done but you will have to be extremely structured in your approach and need to grasp info easily. Forget big robbins, maybe focus on the mini robbins. Golijan is the man, listen to his audio tapes. If you have the money check out uworld....it might be early but if you focused on the path questions you can see what is recurrent topics and high yeild. :xf:

im studying for a path final right now... literally.. have OneNote open and am scanning slides...

Its an extra class i took on top of medical school (for 2 months, just like you school is giving you) -- after my school taught me path for 2 years -- and i STILL think its hard. .. good luck with 1 mo.
