Hey every one, I was just invited to the LECOM-B interview on 2/17. It should be 8:45 in the morning. I am from Chicago and looking into flying into Sarasota Airport Monday night. Anyone else going there that day and if so, any one wanna share a room. I am a 20yr male and I don't mind anyone (male or female) who wants to share a room and split the cost. Well message me of leave a post if anyone is interested. Oh and list some stats for those attending. Hope to see you all and good luck!!!!

i think i'll be flying in with the gf so that would be kinda awkward 😛. But if I end up flying solo I will let you know.

Stats: overall gpa ~3.1
pcats 92%

I heard from them a couple of days ago, and I'm pretty excited 👍

Anyone else attending the interview on 2/17?

I'll be interviewing that day, but staying with family.

If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, you may want to look into flying in and out of Tampa... it's only 30 minutes away (just across the bay via the Sunshine Highway) and generally way cheaper.

Good luck, see you there!

I was considering Tampa Airport but I choice Sarasota b/c I mapquest the distance and it said it is approxiamately 58 mins away and I think it would be hard and expensive to find a taxi all the way from Tampa to LECOM. Did LECOM sent you guys a confirmation email yet? They said they have sent it but I still havent received it yet.

u r rite .. LECOM-B is about 20' away from my house...and it will definitely take at least 45' (if u know ur way around)..and could take up to 1h' if u dont'... and traffic from tampa in the morning is crazy .. so..if i don't think u guys want to take a chance .. ...don't think it's possible to get to Lecom from tampa for 30'. ...

good luck!!

No one wants to share hotel?? Any help in cutting the cost would be great, I am already spending close to $300 for air transportation and the cost of hotel would add another $100. If anyone wants to split the cost and share a room, that would be fantastic.

And for those who interviewed or lives around LECOM-B, what is the closest hotel to LECOM-B? I may be walking to the campus from the hotel b/c it would be a pain to find transportation on the day of interview. I prefer a hotel w/in 5-10 mins walking distance if possible. And also, how would I get from Sarasota Airport to LECOM? Any suggestion of getting cheap transportion to LECOM from the airport.

I don't know exactly if there are any hotel close to school cuz.. that area is building ..up and i haven't been there for 3 months ..but i can tell u that ..from sarasota airport to Lecom ..might be around 20' .(sometimes it depends on ur time of traveling it can be 30' if traffic)..get out of the airport ..take I-75North ..to exit 220 .. keep right lane when u get off that exit ...keep going straight to Lakewood Ranch Blvd. take a right there ...keep going straight from 5-7' u will see LECOM on the right hand side ...

there are hotels close to my house ...it's about 15' from lecom ....

Hey Joe...I'm also from the Chicago area and I interviewed at LECOM on January 20th, got accepted on the 28th. I flew from midway to SRQ in Sarasota...the Tampa airport is an hour away, and I'm not old enough to rent a car (20), so I chose SRQ. My airfare was like $215 with airtran, but I had a connecting flight in Atlanta both ways, which kind of sucked. I stayed at the Econolodge in Bradenton, which is 15-20 mins from the school. The taxi from the airport to the hotel cost $34, to the school cost $24, and back to the airport from the school cost $35 (all prices I gave are without tip). I paid like $37.99 for the room and it was pretty decent...very clean, nothing fancy tho. Mention you are interviewing at LECOM and they give you a discount. Some of the more expensive hotels in the area offer shuttles to the school/airport, but it will end up costing you more than the route I took. PS there are absolutely no hotels within walking distance...LECOM is kind of out in the middle of no where.

In regards to the interview, its a 1 on 1...the questions asked were very reasonable and I felt comfortable during the process, even with it being my first interview. Then as a group (there were about 12 interviewees there that day) we were given a story problem and asked to discuss it with one another while a faculty member observed. We then discussed the program, had lunch with students, toured the campus, and that was it. I really like the school a lot and will most likely end up there. I got accepted there and Wingate University in North Carolina so far. I interviewed at Midwestern in Downers Grove, St John Fisher in NY, and LECOM-Erie. I applied to like 12 schools total, but I plan on turning down a few of those interviews if I get them. I'm waiting on UIC and NSU in Ft Lauderdale still...I still would like to interview at each of those. But so far, LECOM-B is where I plan on going. What part of IL are you from? I'm from Yorkville...its near Aurora, and about 45 mins from Chi-town...ever heard of either city?

Hey Lance, thanks for all the info. I live in Schaumburg, 50 mins from chicago, and like 5 mins from Woodfield Mall. Did you book you hotel Econolodge online or simply as a walkin because $37.99 for a room is very cheap. From your visit, was Econolodge basically the closest hotel from the school. And also, did you called a cab and they simply met up with you at the school and hotel or did you just go in the middle of the street and found a cab. You apply to basically all of the same schools that I did and I am the same age as you are, weird! Thanks for your help though, I greatly appreciate it.

Hey Joe,

Is the offer still standing? I haven't booked my flights or room yet. I wouldn't mind staying with someone if it cuts down on my costs. I'm also planning on renting a car and that would help with getting onto campus for the interview without having to worry about a cab. PM me if you need any contact info.

Hi,

I am currently a first year here at LECOM- Bradenton and I can tell you that any hotel that is close to school is a bit expensive. Your best bet is to stay around the airport and just take a cab. The traffic around bradenton is not too bad. I don't really know about the traffic in tampa, but i know there are some students who actually commute every morning to school and they say it takes them about an hour. I am an ambassador at LECOM, which you will find out soon what that means when you have the interview, but basically our job is to answer any questions you might have and help out with anything you need. If any of you are really tight on cash and need a place to crash, I don't mind. I have a futton and I live about 6 or 7 minutes away from school. Contact me through this forum and i will respond back as soon as i can.

did ya hear back from the school? 😱

There are VERY cheap hotels less than 5 miles away on the corner of 64 and Lakewood Ranch Blvd. An Econo Lodge and I think a Super 8
