Lecom-bradenton Acceptances

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
woow. Even though I know it worked out best for Dr. GG 🙂D:clap:😀) it kinda stinks that someone would withdraw during orientation when someone else could've had their seat... I hope nothing unfortunate happened beyond his/her control.

Things beyond your control can always happen. A first-year student from Minnesota had their car totalled on the second day of school this year by someone running a red light. Be forewarned-- Florida has long yellow lights and all Floridians run red lights.

I wonder why Lecom begins lectures from the first day of orientation?

This is the first time that it's been done that way. Partly, it's due to student feedback from the orientation process. It really is a good idea because you get thrust into things a little more gently this way. Previously, orientation lasted M-W from 8 AM to 3PM and you got waaaaay bored by Tuesday morning. Wednesday was pure drudgery. Then, you had 8 hours of lecture and 4 hours of lab over the next two days that completely overwhelmed you.

How does that work, anyways? Once you start orientation, are you responsible for paying that year's tuition? 😱

Withdraw in the first week and you are entitled to a 75% refund of tuition and fees. Of course, most students are on financial aid so the refund policy for Title IV funds is dictated by the Federal government-- not by Lecom.

Think, Lecom will miss out on $75 - 100k of tuition over 4 years for that student because at this point, no one is filling in their place...🙂

Not really. The target range is 160 (20 groups of 8 pbl students) and they usually start with about 162 students. There will be a few students during the year who drop out due to health or academic reasons and will join the next class. There are 5 from my class who started a year before me but ended up with me for one reason or another (one, for example had a herniated brain that required surgery). There are a couple from my class who are now a year behind. A few students may drop out totally or transfer; that's just to be expected in every school.

As for me, I'll be trying and hoping for next year.

Good Luck!!!:luck::luck::luck:

Good Luck!!!:luck::luck::luck:

As usual scpod, thanks for the info... so informative. And quite a different perspective, which is cool. I do suppose, that sitting through an orientation from 8-3 😴for three days would be brain numbing...🙂. I still, however, think although the school's goal is 160, starting off the first week with someone leaving hurts the school over the next four years, 'cause as you said, things can ALWAYS happen in the four years, it just seems a bad start. And, I was pulling for my girl, Dr. GG, who was next in line for her seat... but it seems things worked in her favor after all! (yaye)

Btw, I hope the student from MN was not hurt, sheesh, what a way to start your school year. Oh! And ALL FL residents do NOT run red lights, well I don't anyways... but I AM a driving school instructor, so perhaps not completely representative 😀.

But hey, scpod, reading your post of LECOM's Comlex-I scores (wooo hooo!!) they seem to know what they're doing. Perhaps, though, you should keep how great LECOM-B is on the DL, atleast until after I get in 😀.

OLayyy

Last practice test getting 26
do you think I am doing ok?

if i remember correctly last year when i interviewed they said their avg mcat was a 25, so if everything else in your app looks good, i would say you've got a good chance. good luck!!

I drove down there and spoke with 2 students
one said just get 28 you will be safe
gave me a lump in my throat

I know a Lala from chicago, CCOM grad( grad from FP residency this year) Nicest guy.

oh that's cool! that's not actually part of my name, i just made it up 🙂
good luck with everything!! i know it's a grueling process, it felt like eternity until it was over, but it DOES end and you can make it happen!!:luck::luck:

hey lionelsoe! You have a great GPA, but a 21 is low. If you can get a 26 MCAT like on your practice tests, apply EARLY (send in your secondary application asap...this will increase your chances by a lot!), and have a well rounded application then I think you have a good chance 🙂

I got accepted two days ago. I was wondering if anyone else got in class of 2012?

EE, you just made me laugh really hard, and it has not been a laughing day for me, so thanks 🙂😀

👍 I aim to please. Usually I put at least one smilie in my post so everyone gets the jist but I thought that one worked well by itself. :laugh:

just got my letter... accepted for c/o 2012!!!

Hey everyone. Make sure you go join the LECOM 2012 Facebook group.
