woow. Even though I know it worked out best for Dr. GG 🙂D😀) it kinda stinks that someone would withdraw during orientation when someone else could've had their seat... I hope nothing unfortunate happened beyond his/her control.
Things beyond your control can always happen. A first-year student from Minnesota had their car totalled on the second day of school this year by someone running a red light. Be forewarned-- Florida has long yellow lights and all Floridians run red lights.
I wonder why Lecom begins lectures from the first day of orientation?
This is the first time that it's been done that way. Partly, it's due to student feedback from the orientation process. It really is a good idea because you get thrust into things a little more gently this way. Previously, orientation lasted M-W from 8 AM to 3PM and you got waaaaay bored by Tuesday morning. Wednesday was pure drudgery. Then, you had 8 hours of lecture and 4 hours of lab over the next two days that completely overwhelmed you.
How does that work, anyways? Once you start orientation, are you responsible for paying that year's tuition? 😱
Withdraw in the first week and you are entitled to a 75% refund of tuition and fees. Of course, most students are on financial aid so the refund policy for Title IV funds is dictated by the Federal government-- not by Lecom.
Think, Lecom will miss out on $75 - 100k of tuition over 4 years for that student because at this point, no one is filling in their place...🙂
Not really. The target range is 160 (20 groups of 8 pbl students) and they usually start with about 162 students. There will be a few students during the year who drop out due to health or academic reasons and will join the next class. There are 5 from my class who started a year before me but ended up with me for one reason or another (one, for example had a herniated brain that required surgery). There are a couple from my class who are now a year behind. A few students may drop out totally or transfer; that's just to be expected in every school.
As for me, I'll be trying and hoping for next year.
Good Luck!!!
