Hello:

Over the past year I have attended some Special lecture series given by doctors on current issues in medicine (not for credit). I was wondering if this could be considered an extracuricular?

Thanks a lot!

I don't think so; you didn't really do anything. However, you could use what you learned from the lecture series in your personal statement or one of the essays for secondaries.

Good question, I have been wondering about that myself. Since I work at a major research institution, I get to go to alot of these conferences, lectures, grand rounds, etc. I would think that could count as EC, since you are taking time out of doing other things to broaden your knowledge of medicine -which I would think would show some commitment to the field. Granted, I wouldn't base all of my EC's around them, but I think it would better the overall package. Anyone else care to shed some light on this?😕
