Would you dispense a prescription if you knows that the prescription was issued after an internet consultation or telephone conversation?
Recently I have gotten few rxs called in here and there by some dr from somewhere and when I asked patient how do u know that dr, patients reply me saying their insurance is suggesting this practice and "consultation" is covered by their insurance so they dont have to go to ER or urgent care

Is it a legal??? is it legal to fill those RXs?? where is patient-prescribe relationship??? thoughts

PS. They call drug for only short period of therapy. no controls mostly antibiotics

I find it only slightly less ridiculous than your standard urgent care which issues a z-pack, flonase, and cetirizine as a rubber stamp. It's illegal in my state, but how am I to know the patient-prescriber relationship of the 300 prescriptions I see a day in my state? Of course if it's a control I'm not allowing it through. http://cchpca.org/state-laws-and-reimbursement-policies

Texas state medical board just ruled on telemedicine last week. They said that prescriptions from telemedicine are valid if the patient has met with the prescriber in person OR they are meeting them for the first time over webcam but there is a nurse or some kind of health care professional that is able to relay vital signs and a physical.

I'v actually seen this on TV commercials of some kind lol. Seems really stupid.

you would probably know if Dr is not familiar to you or haven't heard drs name before, but Its not possible to know all the time I know that especially if you are working at the busy pharmacy

I get the part when it comes to telemedicine but as far as I know for ANY prescription to be legal (control or non control) any state there has to be patient-physician relationship which of course it doesn't exist when they just call in script from the data gather over a phone conversation.
