****Legitimate UoP Class of 2017 Thread****

Now looking at this thread has got me feeling all bummed out... Checked my phone this morning... nothing... Sigh...

I hope they give out another round of calls this afternoon. It's still pretty early in CA.

Congrats everyone who got interviews. I hope to hear from UOP as well.
 
Are their interviews really that far apart, or do most people just not post on SDN? I feel like the first bunch of us got offered Sept. 12 or 16, and the next bunch of us got offered late Oct.
 
I had 3 choices in October: 10th, 17th, 21st. I picked the Monday instead of the Thursdays because it would require me to miss fewer classes. 🙂
 
Yea, I picked Monday because I only have classes on Tuesday and Thursday next semester. So I can leave for cali on that Thursday or Friday before. Spend the wknd there.
 
I got called a week ago. My interview is 9/9. I won't even been in school again yet, so that's nice.
 
I FINALLY got an under review email from them. Second batch.

Seeing as the folks getting interviews have super high stats, i don't expect to hear back with good news anytime soon.

hi everybody. i'm a newbie predent to sdn and i cannot wait. i can't. just can't wait to begin applying to dental school AND I can't wait to hopefully be part of UOP!

i swear, i am in love with everything about the school. i visited most of the schools in CA and a few on the east coast and by far UOP is still my #1 choice.

the people and environment there is AAAAMMMMMMAAAAAZING!!!!!!! If you haven't met Stan the director of admissions, YOU HAVE GOT TO MEET HIM! i cannot believe he's not a dentist because he's so well spoken, inspiring and motivational -- one of those people you meet for the first time and you instantly get a genuine impression of a good person unlike the fake admissions people you meet. not to mention he is young and a total HOTTIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! in fact, all the students i met were super smart and beautiful!!!!!! -- do they do that on purpose LOL.

for those who get accepted this year, please inbox me and let me know how it really is to be a student there. i heard it's really tough and expensive, BUT i'd rather be happy. i've had friends who chose state schools and are now regretting their decision!

Exactly my thought process! I picked Oct 14th cause I don't have school that day

Smart? Dare I say genius level if you're average compared to them haha. I'm smart and got a 19 (mainly due to the fact I didn't study as hard as I should have and that I do school year round and had to use every free second I had to study for the DAT). IMO people who get over 22 either studied a freaking long time for the test, a genius, or knows how to destroy standardized testing.

T-T Don't make others feel bad now... If you don't mind sharing, could you give some ballpark hours that you have? I have a 3.7, 24 DAT, 200+ dental related hours, 300+ volunteer hours and haven't gotten a call from them. 🙁 (Under review since 8/9 so I've been pretty bummed since they they started handing out interviews...).

You sure they're handing out interviews? I haven't even seen secondaries sent out to washington residents like myself.

I meant UoP. I haven't heard back from UW for a looong time. I just mentioned UW because of uw91's username and residency. 😛

Ahhhh got it. That makes me feel better. I wish I'd get that UoP interview. Long-shot but it'd be nice.

I hear you, dude. Since they have a high acceptance rate for OOS interviewers, it would put my mind at ease. Big time.

See Glimmer and gn4... I told you guys that everything would be ok. Just to let you know, UoP has a very high acceptance rate for those that interview before December 1st. My interviewer told me that getting an interview at UoP is harder than getting accepted at UoP. So congratulations! you both (and the many other who have gotten early interviews) have a very good chance at being accepted to a very prestigious institution. Just prove that you are human and you are interested in dentistry and you will be a shoe in!

I definitely wouldn't consider myself a genius haha. I just have always been a good test taker. I only studied 2 weeks for the DAT though. Fortunately I took it right after I finished O Chem, so I didnt have to study that section at all.

Hey, those are good stats. 8/9 wasn't long ago, so don't worry. I was under review 10 days after my app was sent out, and I got the call about a week after that. I have close to 1000 dental related hours. Maybe around the same for extracurricular/volunteer/community service combined.

I'm guessing that's why I probably didn't get a call. Well, congrats on the invite! I'm pretty sure I'll be saying the same thing to you once UW accepts you on Dec. 2nd. 🙂
 
Can you tell me which number should we contact UoP with? there is something wrong with my application I should talk to them!! all the numbers I have are just automated systems with no voice mailbox. And I can not find any email addresses.

Have you tried the contact information at the bottom of their "active review" email?
 
Here is the problem, I don't receive emails from them!

Any idea of how many ppl they have offered interviews to already ?? I got the under review email last month (I applied second batch and paid the fee immediately) and it says it takes 2-3 weeks for processing, and i haven't heard anything since. Does that mean I basically got rejected ? Surely they haven't offered too many interviews yet given that they are calling ppl one by one and they just started less than 10 days ago?

I got the under review email 7/31 and haven't received a call. I did call UoP about my file and they said it's still under review, so there's still some hope.
 
Will they eventually send out emails at one point ?? I'm thinking that they maybe call the ppl they like best first, then they'll start emailing. I really want to go to this school. I have good stats but somewhat bland EC's and I'm OOS. Hoping for the best though !
 
I received a app received email July 25 but still have not received an app under review email. Should I call?

I had not received an 'under review' email as well. However, I called this morning and my application is indeed under review. They are probably just swamped right now so they couldn't send out emails to everyone

Could you please tell me which number did you call? every number I try is an automated system with no voice mailbox.
 
No problem, the admissions office number is: (415) 929-6491. Btw, I have just received the 'under active review' e-mail this morning.
 
i was either the 2nd or 3rd batch (not sure because my aadsas application was finished before my letters were uploaded) and i wanted to know if living in ny is a bad thing for this college since apparently everyone getting interviews so far are from canada or the west coast.
i have the same or better stats compared to the ppl getting interviews so far.
for those of you who got interviews, how long after the email did you get the interview and what batch were you?

I'm from the east cost (North Carolina) and received an invite a few weeks ago. I was first batch.

They do look at applicants "holistically"
A lot of high stats this cycle. UOP doesn't seem to be going batch-by-batch.
 
FINALLY got an under active review email today! App was complete 7/29.

Too bad the email says to allow a minimum of 7-8 weeks for the reviewing process..:whistle:

I was second batch but I took the DAT 8/1 so app was complete 8/8 after i sent unofficial scores in
