Is there any website or resource to find out what kind of scores one needs to be competitive at a certain residency program? For instance how competitive is it to get lenox hill's categorical IM residency in nyc? What range of usmle score? Do I need to be like at the very top of my class? Ect. Thanks!

No, there are no resources that list the scores of their residents. There is a lot more that goes into picking residents that simply a COMLEX/USMLE score and residents within the same program can have very different scores.

You should look up what the average score for a field is (IM in your case) and then say to yourself, "Self, I want to go to a competitive residency, so I'm going to need to aim to at least beat the average for that field."

Also, I know one of the guys who matched at Lenox Hill last year. He is a really smart guy and had great scores and took the USMLE. If you're shooting for an allopathic residency, you really should take the USMLE. You'll hear people say, "well a lot of places accept COMLEX." Truth is that if you want to play in the MD world, you should play by the MD rules, and that mean taking the USMLE. I'm not saying you can't get a residency with COMLEX, but if you want a competitive one, they're likely going to want USMLE.

Thanks for the advice! I'm definitely going to take the usmle. What are some of the other most important factors that go into getting a residency
like lenox hill? Thanks!
