June 1st is approaching fairly quickly. I want to make sure I am as ready as I can be by the end of May so I can submit my application as soon as possible. Any recommendations on what I should be doing to get the application ready? I already have my personal statement all set and requested my letters from my professors (waiting for them to upload it to Interfolio). What else can I do? Am I able to sign up on AADSAS to find/fill the application before being able to submit it on June 1st? Last but not least, when is it ideal to request the transcript from my university (and the community college that I took a summer course in) to be sent?

Thank you in advance!

In all seriousness, I would get estimated hours of all your shadowing/volunteering/research activities (as well as short descriptions of them) ready so that you have that info on hand when AADSAS opens/don't need to waste time researching it.

As far as transcripts go, when you make the AADSAS app, you will get to print out an official transcript request form. Send that to your school immediately so they can process it and mail your transcript to AADSAS.

I have the same questions so I would like follow this thread as well!

Honestly? Just chill out. It's not going to make a difference if you turn in the application on the 1st day it's open or the 20th. It only matters when you're months late. Honestly it's probably better to take your time so you turn in the best app possible.

If you have all your letters ready, you've taken your dat, and you know how to order a transcript you're going to be fine. Send your transcript the first day it's open, like I said it isn't going to make much of a difference if it isn't there immediately.

Make sure your professors don't delay. That's the one thing that could honestly need you up. I have a really close professor of mine who just never wrote me one after saying she would, but I had a committee letter so it didn't matter.

I'll end with this. The process is as simple as it seems. Just turn in the documents and wait. There's nothing you can do to get ahead or gain a better shot. Just talk yourself up as much as possible, turn it in, and focus on the other things going on in your life.

Feel free to PM me if you'd like, and that's for anyone applying, I'll answer any questions I can.

This will be very helpful.

Also have the actual dates you participated in the activities ready as well. This is what drained me about my app is it takes forever to type these.

In the same line of thinking get a copy of your transcripts for yourself, if the AADSAS is like the TMDSAS, writing all of the courses and grades you've received is a major PAIN. Calculate your science GPA, overall GPA, and non science GPA ahead of time.

Do we need the exact dates or the months is okay? for example, 05-2016 to 07-2016?

When applications open on June 1st, about how long does it take to fill out? I already have my info together (except LORs which I will have), so Im just wondering about how much time I will need to set apart

I highly recommend staying on top of your LORs. I knew many predents this cycle whose applications were severely postponed by slow submissions. While I do not advise bugging anyone, if one or more of your letters starts to take too long, a gentle and polite nudge is usually enough. Also, please submit earlier than I did (late August). Even though I have been accepted, it SUCKED being a late-ish applicant.

If I were you I would work on my personal statement. Try to perfect it before June 1st. Start asking for LOR now so they will be ready by the time portal opens. Have your shadowing/volunteering/community service hours all figured out.

Save up some money. I dropped like $3,500 on that cycle. I could have saved like $6, but I really had a taste for a plain bagel and black coffee in New York.

I laughed way too hard at this.

Is it not possible to just directly request an official transcript from my school a few days before June 1 and have it processed and mailed out by the day the app opens?

I highly recommend getting Interfolio for letters or rec. You can submit all of your letters on June 1st as long as they are already in your Interfolio account.

do you know if interfolio will be compatible with the new AADSAS platform?

I see no reason why it wouldn't. I've seen a small preview of the new AADSAS, it looks quite nice compared to the UI nightmare it is right now. I doubt they would remove functionality in a newer iteration

Thank you for this. I found this reassuring as I am scheduled to take the DAT June 27th. I think scores need like 4 weeks to process, which sucks. But I hope to be fine in the end in terms of getting my application in at a good time.

They don't need four weeks to process, as soon as you are done you can fax the scores to the schools your interested in, and the AADSAS, then they will also get the"official" ones

Wow that's expensive! Why is it that costly?

If you're asking about the cycle itself, a few reasons. Each school you apply to is $100 on AADSAS. Most schools have supplemental fees around $100 as well, so it's close to $200 to apply to one school usually. I went to seven interviews, so with plane tickets anywhere from $150-$400, and hotels or Airbnb are close to $100 a night, it adds up fast.

If you're asking about the bagel and coffee, probably because it's New York.

- make your professional summary aka your activities, description, what you've done etc.
- see if there's a way to enhance your application. Looks like you're all set from DAT, recom, PS perspective. Can you do more shadowing or volunteering in the meantime if you are low on hours?
