So Im in a dilemma here, I was going through my apps last night and noticed the behavioral science component requirement required at most colleges. I have 3 semester units from sociology. The other 3 units seem to be ambiguous. I finished college almost 2.5 yrs ago so Im a lil stressed here.

The other 3 units i did for my social science requirement at school was called Asian Humanities. The behavioral science list ethnic studies as a possible class choice. In my opinion and according to the class description this class was indeed an ethnic studies class. The problem is the "humanities" part of the course description. It throws me off and could be possibly list as a non science. Under the same class name ie "IDST2" or watever there is another IDST that is human sexuality that is listed as a behavioral science.

Class description: A team-taught survey of Asian civilizations, especially Arabic-Islamic, Indian, Chinese, and Japanese cultures. Emphasis on literature, philosophy, religion, and the arts. Explanation, through an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural approach, of the differences and underlying unity of Asian cultures and a comparison with their Western counterparts. Use of the best available English translations of Asian literature along with slides, films, recordings, and field trips

I emailed some schools this question, but Im in a time crunch here. If I need to God forbid, take another class I have to sign up through the extension center at my old college for a summer school class. I can only take a night class and theres only one available with 2 seats left. I want to snag the seat just in case but the problem is extension class cost $900 + fees. The city colleges around offer no night classes. This royally sucks.

Also can I submit my primary and say that I am in the process of taking this class? Hopefully i wont have to take it but who knows, better safe then sorry right?:luck:

Ok, the schools respond within an amazing timeframe. COMP said they would accept this, should I continue to ask other schools if they will or not?

Yeah you better check with all the schools. The behavioral science req is the most arbitrary of all premed requirements, and really has no set standard.

If I were you, I would register for a psychology class for the fall. Put it on your aacomas application as a future class. You may find it interesting and it along with the sociology should forfill most schools behavioral science prereq (usually only 6 credits are needed). This is probably one class that you can take at a community college or even online since it isn't one of the hard sciences.

I have now problem with behavioral science req as well. I think I only have one Anthro class. This might be a dumb Q, but Do u consider geography, and history as behavioral science?

Nope. At least it didn't count for most of the schools I applied to.

So question here ... what happens if I had two classes marked down as behavioral science when I submitted AACOMAS, giving me the correct amount, but they switched one of them to non-science and now I am one class short??? Can I still just tell the schools (such as COMP) that I believed the class satisfied the requirement - which by all means, it should have.

It's also now telling me that in quarter units I only have 2.7 units of Behavioral Science, but I need freaking 9 for COMP??? What the hell, how is that even possible??? Wouldn't that basically be 4 behavioral science classes?? That doesn't even make sense for anyone who isn't like a psychology major. I am really confused and need help.

EDIT: Hopefully the units come from the one's given at my university, not AACOMAS 'semester hours' in which case I would only be one class short and still looking for anyone who can answer my question in the previous post. Thank you soo much to anyone who can help me clear this up!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember coming across a "Units vs. Credits" issue when I was entering my coursework.

At Tufts the transcript indicates courses as units where 1 unit = 3 credits. Maybe the same terminology for aacomas?

is a 5 on ap psychology sufficient to fulfill the behavioral science pre-req

I took a fair amount of behavioral sciences in economics, philosophy, sociology, and political science. However, it's listed on my AACOMAS application as Other Non-Science. Do you think this will be an issue when ad coms from schools that require such courses review my application?

Wait, does economics counts as behavioral sciences?
