Lethal Downward GPA Trend?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It's not about the collective, but what are the stats at each school. In addition, the collective stats get skewed by the lucky state schools, which together have lower GPAs.

It also doesn't take into account reinventors.
Yes, but it hardly a nail in the coffin. A good MCAT score can really do wonders for a lot of applicants especially if they have a borderline subpar performance. Plus certain grade deflating schools like MIT still have high placement even though their gpas are not steller.
This persons stats do not exclude them from admittance to an MD school, they are not optimal, but a strong MCAT performance can definitely open doors.

I'm more in line with the notion that a high MCAT low GPA is more a light shining on a disparity. There are people who are naturally good standardized test takers, OR can do well when they spend an entire year studying for the exam and do nothing else. Now, I agree that there are schools that are stats wh...um, stat obsessed, but in a field where schools also have ot cull the herd from 5-10000 apps, I don't think it's a good idea to apply when one's GPAs are not competitive.

i can't argue with case in points.

Thank you both for your input; I really appreciate it. I am aware that my sGPA puts me at a huge disadvantage, but at this point, I am fully focused on getting as high of a score as possible on the MCAT this fall. MD is my goal.
