Can somebody explain to me how ACETYL CHOLINE have a negative inotropic effect on the atria and not ventricles????????[/QUO

WELL ACETYL CHOLINE IS RELEASED FRM POSTGANGLIONIC PARASYMPATHETIC NERVES( VAGUS) THAT SUPPLIES THE HEART. IT CAUSES BRADYCARDIA AND HAS A NEGATIVE INOTRPHIC EFFECT. BUT I REALLY DOT THINK THAT ONLY ATRIA ARE AFFECTED BY THIS AC EFFECT.

iontrphic agents mainly alter the hear contractily. ie postive inotrphic agent increase hc while negative decrease... certainly the vetricles are affected by inotrphic agents. coz the main force generated for contraction is largely depedeant on ventricle that on atria....

so are u sure about this stayment that ac has negative inotrphic effect only on atria.

i feel they certainly hav e negative inotrphic effect coz ac is the neurotrasmitor in post gang.ps innervation of heart. but if only atria is affects.. i really dont tthink so.

let me know.

Actully i studied this from kaplan review book and its written there that acetyl choline effects atria and not ventricals and i got confused so tahts why i asked you guys to answer this...................

d)Magenta colored tongue

all other due to B6

The answer is correct. But there is small correction in the explanation.

Explanation:- the other answers a,b & c are the symptoms of both Vtamin B6 and B2 deficiency. Answer d. Magenta tongue is the symptom of riboflavin alone.

it seems correct. but about the cholera toxin question.. i think gs protein is stimulated by cholera toxin

pls check cholera toxin in wiki.. it has mentioned the exact mechanism of its action....
is there by any chance explaination given along these answers..

THANKS dreamchaser and missiondds.....
but the answer to this is e) both a and d ie both leads to cataract coz deficiency of both will accumulate a layer of galatose on the lens of the eye and more of the water will be absorbed hence it will lead to cataract...........

ya u r right but i think v prefer D when both option r given

if you mean articular disc frm saying TMJ thn the answer is synovial fluid.. but tmj also consists of other struff like ligaments/ bones
which are not a nourished by synovial fluid.

synovial fluid has 2 functions only

nourish articular disc

lubrication of the joint cavities during passive movment of the disc over articualr surfaces.

can you mention t he source of this question and answer?

thanks.

Parasympathetic stimulation via muscarinic receptor decreases the contractility of atria by decreasing the inward current of ca+ during plateau of the cardiac ap.
vagus nerve supply the SA & AV node. Sympathetic supply increases contractility of both.

BUT I REALLY DOT THINK THAT ONLY ATRIA ARE AFFECTED BY THIS AC EFFECT.

so are u sure about this stayment that ac has negative inotrphic effect only on atria.

i feel they certainly hav e negative inotrphic effect coz ac is the neurotrasmitor in post gang.ps innervation of heart. but if only atria is affects.. i really dont tthink so.

enamel rods are at the right angle to the dentin surface.
deciduous teeth- in the cervical and central part of the crown they are horizontal, near the incisal edge or tip they change gradually to an increasingly oblique until they are vertical in the region of the edge or tip of the crown.
prmamnet- similar in the occlusal 2 third of the crown,in cervical deviate from the horizontal to the apical direction.

oh iam sorry just mis read the question..ya brutons agammaglobinemia is Bcell deficiency but ll have normal levels of T cells..so it has no resistance to bacterial infec hence suseptible to strep n heamophilus..

so answer shud be A..i.e ll have resistance to viral infec coz T cell levels are normal and T cells are involved in viral n fungal infec resistance

hourglass pattern seen in cross section of which premolar????

phosphorylation of pka medial pterygoid causes ??????

glcogenolysis,, gluconeogenesis.

some one pls explain a doubt regarding PTH.
decks says 2 things that seems contradicting to me.
1.PTH causes increased bone resorption and also causes increased reabsorption of calcium in the kidney tubules.
2. patients with hyperparathyroidism has increased renal calcium excretion.

isn't these 2 contradicting

my second doubt is with gastrin.
what is the role of gastrin in controlling intestinal motility? increases or decreases

pls respond
thankyou

1.PTH causes increased bone resorption and also causes increased reabsorption of calcium in the kidney tubules.
Both are true.It mainly increases plasma calcium level.
2. patients with hyperparathyroidism has increased renal calcium excretion.
Increased excretion is also seen with increased blood calcium level.

isn't these 2 contradicting

my second doubt is with gastrin.
what is the role of gastrin in controlling intestinal motility? increases or decreases

Gastrin increases gastric motility.

[/QUOTE]

when calcium levels are elevated beyound the resorption capacity of the kidneys the excess calcium is excreated in urin. calcium just like glucose has a transport maximum which whn exceeeds leads to excreation in urine.
