Even if you get interview invitation from now on, it will be 99% for a wait listed spot.

Time to get over it and move on

i'm sure those looking forward to their only interview is encouraged by your words.
why would u say something like this?

Why does misery love company

and to the hopefulls left - Faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains. If you get an interview, thanks God cause others dont. Plus, people rountinely get accepted in April, June and July etc. Stuff happens and for many reasons, accepted students fail to attend. Just keep hoping.

he said it cause he got accepted - quick to forget the anxiety he endured before he got the illusion of a certain fate. How quickly we forget.

and to the original poster remember this:

life turns on a dime

Thanks Kinks, for the message. The OP seems like an idiot for posting this. Lets see how he long he survives the pressure at UMinn for dental😛

I have had two interviews with both waitlists. Its my second time applying. I don't know why I have not gotten in yet. I have 3.56 CumuGPA, 3.47 Sci,
20AA/20TS/15PAT/17RC. I know my DAT is the red flag so I will retake and apply again and in the meantime do some more ECs and find better LORs.

I was pretty sad about not getting in so far but I am still going to send updates to the schools I have been waitlisted, you never know. Faith and Hope are the essence of life, IMO. I do believe in God and pray that I get in. It could happen.

btw, congrats on getting in at HUCD Kinks!

The cycle isn't over until the 1st day of class.

I know a girl who got accepted 1 week before classes started. Although she had to scramble to move out of state I'm sure she's glad about her position now.

Hang in there!

Thanks and no prob. The post reflects how I honestly feel. I think it demands a cetain level of arrogance to presume to dictate when one should have faith or kick the bucket. In any case, I will never forget the anxious sleepless nights that this whole process caused and can only empathise with those who still endure it. My best wishes to everyone still waiting.

Who are you to assume that this cycle is over? You must be some sort of idiot to assume such. It amazes me how arrogant you sound. Good luck to those that receive an interview this time of year.....

I know schools like Boston U and some CA schools are still interviewing for actual positions rather than waitlists. So, definitely not 99%. Even though those interviews are for waitlists, there are still chances that these people will get in. So, this cycle is NOT over yet.

I'm glad that you dictate the will of all 50+ dental schools and the 500+ applicants who still have seats and wait-list spots to release to other applicants as they make their final decision regarding the next 4 years.
If you are just making an observation- your statistical analysis, diagnosis, and prognosis of the current situation is just mind-boggling. How do you do it?!

What an encouraging thread. 👎

boston u is still interviewing for open spots (me included) so not all hope is gone.

This thread is a real downer.😡

I'm not even going to be applying for two more years and this is depressing me. 🙁

Dont worry about it guys, theres still a lot of time. I already got accepted to two schools but neither of one has been my top choice. Still have like 4 schools I havent even heard from and usually they send their rejection letters early, also need to hear from two other interviews and have another interview in APRIL! Late, I know, but still...they can still call way into April. Most waiting lists are put off till even May/June...so dont despair, really, Im not just feeding you empty words of encouragement - if you havent heard by late-April, early-May, THEN its over. And Im not just talking out of my *** - the schools I got accepted into both require an initial deposit in mid-March BUT require another "save-my-spot" deposit in May. The implication being - they have a LOT of people that turn down spots so they have to refill them. Just look at actual attendance rates of accepted candidates (well, except for Harvard, lol) at this link:

http://www.predents.com/

I hope this helps - and dont listen to jerks that tell you otherwise!!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

The acceptances from here on until the 1st day of class are more likely to be in the form of a trickle than a deluge.

this cycle is far from over, just got interview from usc! and going to interview at midwestern on monday!

Its not really over until May 1st...Thats when the second round of deposits are due I believe...so there is still some hope. 🙂

I agree with the above few posts. I spoke with the dentist I work for today about this timeframe of acceptances. His daughter was a VCU grad a few years ago - her friend was called the day before the first day of class; granted he was on the waitlist. there is still hope...and props to those who openly state their faith in God

Time to stop creating stupid self serving threads.

Pretty soon...in dental school..you are going to be clutching your genitals.

I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber....Didn't want to do it..I felt I owed it to them.

I just received interview invite from USC and there are 5 interview days in March with 30 applicants per day. I highly doubt this is all for to be put on waitlist. 😉

I think it is funny how that we all are so offended by this thread, yet some how find ourselves drawn to it. All we are doing is giving this ignorant goof the satisfaction he was looking for when he wrote it. Truth be known, he has probably never had to work for anything his whole life. It has probably been given to him. I am a third year applicant and some times it really pays off when you earn something through hard work, determination, your own merits, and blessings from above. To all you that haven't been accepted there is plenty of opportunities. "The first shall be last and the last shall be first" Good luck and keep plugging!

all I am saying is that we need to be a bit more realistic and cut the delusion, so that we can move on.

Dude man cut it out! Since you got accepted it's easy for you to say this. Keep this kind of opinion to yourself. I know for FACT that there are still few schools left that are interviewing for ACTUAL spots. You definitely don't belong to 'Minnesota Nice'. I wonder what they saw you at your interview😕😕😕

Here ya go again denniss, another ignorant post. I'm sure glad I will not be a part of Minnesota's 2011 class. 👎

My only two acceptances came in April and June, from NYU and Maryland, respectively. It's not over til it's over.

jb!🙂

Maybe, but there is no reason to kill someone's hope. After all, a trickle is still progress. No need to be Debbie Downer at a time when some folks need encouragement and positive words.

Maybe a better way to say it is:

You'll save yourself from some gray hair if you start looking at the cycle from a realistic point of view from here on. I know that about this time last year is when I had to face the consideration of reapplying. It is a harsh reality to come to terms with, but will make your new application better if you start planning now. I was able to really add some solid stuff to this year's app because I just assumed the worst, moved on, and quit waiting by the mailbox and phone.

This is not to say that there isn't a chance still...but be smart, realistic, and optimistically pessimistic! Don't get your feathers ruffled by HOW the OP stated his post; he most likely was making a statement about his OWN likelihood of hearing more news. Only you know your own application, and therefore your chances of still getting accepted. So good luck to those who still have a good shot...and good luck to those who only have a shot in the dark as well, but I'd start formulating a plan B.

Seriously, I feel sorry for Minnesota in some ways. I would hate to have a classmate that has such an attitude. I can see it already, when the class is having a hardtime studying for an exam, Denniss1 will be like

"Even if you study from now on, it will be 99% that we'll all fail."
"Time to get over it and move on" 👎

Bad news is still bad news no matter how it is packaged. The trickle is not going to do much to quench the thirst of the roughly 8k applicants that have yet to receive a nod. It is hard to imagine that the ~104K dear John/Jane (and in selected cases Debbie) letters will be more palatable come June or July than they are today. What's refreshing in some of the responses is that the desire to impale the emissary bringing bad news is just as fashionable today as it was over 500 years ago during the days of Vlad Tepes.

Yay!!! I just got another interview offer!!!! They havn't even received my DAT scores yet!

....Yay for the USC Song girls.

But yea, the cycle's pretty much over. It's not over, but pretty much over.
