No... I don't think people are at all jealous. I have equally good stats, (couple points lower MCAT... big whoop, anything over 35 is just gravy but not really all that meaningful), am a double degree student, all-american swimming, 3 years amazing research with pubs, recieved NIH fellowship to do research in another country, have been an EMT for two years, getting my paramedic next year while finishing my senior year, blah blah blah.

Do I go about posting all these stupid threads about, "should I take me shirt off for my picture" or "let me shove my stats in your faces"? No, I don't. I am proud of what I have accomplished, and I feel that I am a competitive applicant. But aside from this one post (in which I am attempting to make apoint) I keep to myself, wish other people the best, and move on.

I don't need to flaunt my stats or make other people feel stupid in order to gain a sense of accomplishment.

hmmmm ... this sure sounds like it's turning into a rat race. as pre-meds, this is definetly not the point at which we're all nurturing our sense of humility. of course we all want to express our individuality, but remember not to get swept up in the system. retain your desire to do medicine from within, not from what everybody else says.

I didn't vote for any because I knew somebody with better mcat, same gpa but from an ivy league school, and had awesome research experiences and did not get in to the above schools. Although interviewed everywhere.....so..

nevertheless...this is entertaining watching everybody get pissed off. don't know why.... 😛

Yes, will's stats are amazing (congrats to you btw, you deserve whatever good things happen to you)... but, ron mexico has officially stolen the spotlight and earned the "genious" (i know it's probably spelled wrong, but unlike ron and will, i'm stupid) title with his single post, i mean if there was a noble prize rewarded for witty posts, you would have had it right there. that had me laughing so hard i was about to wet myself a little. sorry this post was so late, i just saw this thread.

But back to why this thread disgusts me. Stop arguing about the intent of the thread, or whose open or whose not, go study for your MCAT, Apply to schools, hell do something not medical school related, go for a damn run, talk to a friend you haven’t in a while. It bothers me so much that people post the most mundane responses to people they hardly know and could eventually be colleagues with. Have fun people, medicine is about helping people, not seeing who has the bigger ego or best stats.
