I was recently waitlisted at my top choice school. I am thinking of sending a letter of intent. I am also a photographer and really like taking pictures of the city of the med school. I am wondering if I should send some of my photographs with my letter of intent or should I only send just the letter?

Send just the photos with a handwritten note that says "Thinking of you, XOXO".

Imagine that you are an adcom and you read a letter of intent with photographs of the medical school you work at. :eyebrow:

Haha. I recently did this for a med school as part of an update. I didn't include med school pictures but some of my other photos. I had an update, wrote why I thought the school would be a good match, and as an aside, i made it personal by including some photography.

Is it a little emotional and informal? Maybe. But wouldnt it also help the letter stand out in the sea of similar LOIs adcoms receive?

The squeaky wheel gets the oil, but the nail that sticks up gets hammered down. It all depends on what you have to offer and how they perceive you. They might see you as interested and motivated, they might see you as needy and desperate.

Seems like N>1 is consider doing this, I doubt it’s as rare and unique as you think. Anyone with a camera calls themselves a photographer nowadays

On a serious note, please don't do this OP. It will come across as stalker-ish and strange. Even though we know you don't mean it that way, someone who receives those pictures out of the blue may feel like this.

Yes, because it will make their job a lot faster.

That's sarcasm, and you should understand way.
