I recently had taken this dental waxing class taught by a Certified Dental Technician which apparently taught at UCLA for 2 or 3 decades. It was a 2 day class, which by the end he offered to write a letter of rec for those who had enough points.
What are your thoughts on this? I mean I thought most schools asked for either LOR from science/non-science professor and/or from pre-health committee.
Thanks in advance

His letter doesn't count as professor or dentist, but can be used as supplement if you fulfill other requirement already.
I actually has his letter too but I use 3 science profs + PI + employer instead.

If it is a written letter it could come in handy for starting a bonfire; if it is electronic a good spam filter should take care of it without any problem.

What is it good for? Are you really wanting to use a letter from someone who has known you for two days? How personal can that be?

I've actually had a similar situation. Every time I tell a dentist or anyone in the dental field that I'm applying to dental school they offer to write a letter of recommendation for me. I chose to ask a couple of my science professors to write a letter and submit it to our predental committee. I also asked the dentist I shadowed and assisted most to write me a letter.

It is really great that he offered to write you a letter. What you can do is have him write one and save if if it is needed on a secondary or send it if they ask for anything supplemental.
