Okay so first off my question is this: I have so far two lor, one from my dentist and from a science teacher. The schools i applied to sent me that they still need a LOR from a science teacher and a dat. My question is if it would be okay to get an lor from another dentist(this was my original plan and thats why i didnt send it in yet).
The only science teacher that I can think of is from my astronomy class. I was a good student in his class and always had a good question and class participation. The thing is though that im afraid the admissions committee will think of it as a joke science class. Let me know what you people think of this.

Also, I read up in another thread that it is okay to get an lor from a class you got a B in, so im sure i can find some old teachers from my junior college(I have an old biology teacher in mind).

I know it is very late for this application cycle, but i just took my dat and did well. AA/NS/PA 19/20/19. These scores are nice but I got a 17 in QR and RC. Bio/Gchem/Ochem 19/20/21. I want to forward these unofficial scores, do you think the admissions will like them? My gpa is science 3.0 and nonscience 3.7. My last 2 years in my 4 year university i had a strong upper trend in science. I dont know the exact number but i graduated with 3.5+ gpa overall at my uni(no including my old grades from junior college). DO I even have a chance? This year or next?

I have a ton of other questions but will just stick to these for now.

One thing I forgot to mention why I really want to submit an LOR from my 2nd dentist is b/c me and him had a really good relationship and I know it would be a stellar letter. In fact I wish I could of just done him instead of my 1st dentist.

well, most dental schools have specific requirements for LORs, like they'll want 2 LORs from science professors, 1 from either non-science professor or dentist. You should call the school and see if they are okay with another dentist LOR

Faxing them an unofficial DAT score might not do anything, I think schools will wait until they receive the official report from AADSAS. You need to link your dentpin with AADSAS so they can receive your official scores.

With a 3.0 science GPA, the odds are against you this year and even next cycle when you apply. I am not saying you don't have a shot, but the "easiest" way to increase your chances will be to apply very early next cycle (assuming you don't get in now) and aim at 20+ schools....

If this was me, and I didn't get in this cycle, I would do 1-year of intense informal post-bacc (basically, not apply this coming cycle), taking 30-40 credits in upper level sciences while maintaining close to 4.0 and applying for the 2nd time in June of 2012.

That would mean I would have to wait 6+ years till i start having a real income. I would love to do that if my mom supported me but the truth is i support myself. I dont know if I can do it that much longer(work + school).
I wouldnt mind if the next 2 years were spent getting a degree that could get me a job(incase I still dont get in after 2 years). I feel like my biology degree right now cant really get me a good job.

In response to dental town. Do they look at trends at a new university when you transferred at all? My grades improved significantly at a 4 year college vs a junior college.

Also is the LOR from an astronomy teacher a good idea?

Im sure upward trends look good, how much of an effect they'll have? I don't know....You said your sGPA is about 3.0.... what is your overall GPA (junior + 4-year university) ?

And in regards to astronomy LOR... I have no idea, I think astronomy is in the same category as physics in AADSAS, but I don't know how dental schools see it.... Call the school and find out.
