I have my BA from a good school but non-science major in fact no science courses taken at this school. I am now finishing up my science pre-reqs at a different school (not as prestigious) in a non-formal program. Both these schools have NO pre-med committee.

As far as recommendations go, which letter service should I use, my home (BA) school, Interfolio, or something else? My undergraduate institution has a good letter service but is expensive though and I am not sure if they will accept LORs from other institutions and advisors. Now with the pilot AMCAS letter service is Interfolio worth it?

I intend to apply for the class of 2015, so in theory I will be submitting my primary apps next year in 2010.

I hope I made sense explaining this. Any help will be appreciated so much.

Thanks

This isn't really something you need to worry about now - get to know some profs in the next year and get some letters there. As for AMCAS versus Interfolio - not all schools use AMCAS (only like 10 did this year), so you will need another service unless its implemented by all schools.

I would go with Interfolio. You'll appreciate being able to keep tabs on whether or not your recommenders have submitted your letters without having to nag them constantly and being able to send your letters on demand with relatively little lag time. One of the most frustrating things while I was applying was waiting on my school's letter service to send my letters out. My packet was ready to be sent out a week before it actually was, because the secretary in the pre-med office was on vacation for a week. That's not something you want to deal with, when having your applications completed as early as possible is a priority.

In total, 114 allopathic schools are utilizing the AMCAS letter service this year.
