I am planning on not going to school for a bit probably a year or two, but would like to get couple of recommendation letters from my science professors so I can get that sorted away and before they forget me lol. I was wondering if the lor can be electronic and sent to me, and when I plan to apply I can simply change the date of the letter? Can the letter be open ended or does it have to be towards a specific school? I am not too familiar with the LOR process, but i am assuming they will send it on pdf or microsoft word format with their signature and when I apply towards dental school I will send it directly to the schools im applying to?

Look into the service Interfolio, they store your letters until you actually need to send them to AADSAS.
The letters must be confidential and by having them sent to you, you break confidentiality. Therefore, you must either wait until you actually apply to have them sent OR you can use Interfolio to store them until then.
