I just had a question for all of you that sent letters of recs to different schools. Did you get your ppl to just print off a bunch of them and sign them, or did you photocopy and send them?

Well, in most cases, I believe, the schools actually require that the letters be sent from the writer directly. They want to make sure you never see it. So you'll have to have the writer make multiple copies and send them.

If I can make a suggestion. Something that I did to save the writer time and money (as well as perhaps have them write a better letter), was I gave each of the letter writers a three-ring binder (nothing fancy, one of those flimsy, 1/2" binders) with one binder pocket (similar to these: http://www.officemax.com/max/soluti...xpansionOID=-536879405&prodBlockOID=537403444 ) for each school you're applying to. In each binder pocket, put all the material they will need to write a letter of rec for that school -- including an envelope with the correct to and from addresses already printed on it and proper postage. My letter writers were impressed by the trouble I went through to organize it for them.

Good luck!

Since I wasn't in the same town as most of my letter writers, I couldn't afford to mail 3-rings, but I did make folders with addressed envelopes (stamped for the non-academics), my resume and personal statement, and this handy sheet I got from SCCO listing clinical and didactic qualifications for optometry students that gave a pretty good idea of what all schools were looking for. All my letters were received by the schools within 3 weeks of me sending my folders out, so it was definitely worth the little extra effort.
